i use the whdload set and only find xenon in there. that game just stays black unfortunately...

did you try to update the gamebase database?

on the gamebase page you also find some fills (new roms which have just been recently added to the collection) maybe xenon II is in there

[edit] got xenon I working

i have all the xenon II files in my rom directory (disk 1-3 and cdtv) but they are not showing up, will try to update my gamebase data now

The only way to get games working is (A) If they are in the KillerGorilla WHDLoad set and (B ) They are supported in the GameBase Amiga database.

Obviously you need (A) to have the actual game and (B ) is very important because the GameBase Amiga database is a database that Belgarath painstakenly created by going through each game and adding the required configuration settings. This database hasn't been updated since 2007-12-31 and WinUAELoader contains the latest database already.

So until the GameBase Amiga database is updated I'm afraid there is not much that can be done. Unless you want to edit the WHDLoad.xml manually and add the game in yourself but you still need (A) although I've noticed KillerGorilla has added more games since the last database update.

EDIT: Just had a look at KillerGorilla's site and there has been two updated packs (one for Feb and one for May) but both don't include Xenon II.

hk how hard would it be to make a small app to add you own games to the gamebase database

that way we would not meed to whate for gamebase updates

i was thinking a long the lines like a front end for gamebase mdb

game name

file name

slave name

slave probities

and tick boxes for things like

a500 3000 ecs aga

disable jet

and test button

then you could save them to a mygame mdb

iam not a programmer so i dont have any idea about how much work in would be

but it would then be Amiga gaming heaven

You can download GameBase Amiga which contains the GameBase.mdb database and add the new games into that. It shouldn't be too hard to do, you may even be able to add games to it from the GameBase FE. If someone does that and posts the new database here then I can update WinUAE Loader with the new games.

I don't know when the next GameBase Amiga is going to be released, but the best place to find out would be on the eab.abime.net forums. Belgarath is the guy to ask. Also GameBase Amiga is supposedly being re-written into a custom FE called MAGE, but I don't know what happened to that.

I am glad its not just me that has not got Xenon II working ( I can now stop looking for different versions of the game )

I would of thought a classic like that would be one of the 1st titles to get working as that would be class playing that on a cab.

Also Speedball 2 dont work - I was going to pay for WinUAE Loader but not until these games are working :-)

Sorry I should have explained this earlier in the thread.

WinUAE Loader does run Speedball 2 and Xenon II just not from the WHDLoad set. Those two games and many more that arn't yet supported by WHDLoad are in the GameBase Amiga set. You can get the GameBase Amiga set from eab.abime.net.

WinUAE Loader supports 3 Amiga sets

1. GameBase Amiga (4924 games)

2. KillerGorilla's WHDLoad set (2177 games)

3. SPS (2028 games)

You can get a full list of supported games in WinUAELoader's Data folder. The files are called GameBase.xml, WHDLoad.xml and SPS.xml.

thanks for making this clear...

is there a way to use whd games and adf games in one list?

so to have the benefits of a fast loading game through whd when availible but for all the roms that are not in the database of whd games (like oil imperium or the other two mentioned) to still be able to play these?

There is a GameEx config for each set, you can set them up individually then merge them into one list. Unfortunately there will probably be some repeating games. Hopefully more games will be converted to WHDLoad in the near future.

Just to elaborate...Use an "Emulator Group" in advanced config to do this...

i posted a message on English Amiga board

asking

" has anyone added the KillerGorilla's update packs to gamebase.mdb

if so could they upload it to the zone

thank you all "

i got to replies

I don't know when the next database update will be, but I seem to remember Belgarath saying -- and don't quote me on this -- it won't be too much longer. My memory on this is very fuzzy, so that could mean anything from "in a few weeks" to "before the end of the year". I'm not actually aware of a definite plan existing yet.

It's almost ready, but I'm waiting for toni to release winuae 1.50 first.

I wonder why he's waiting for WinUAE 1.50? I have a feeling I will need to do an update to the loader if it requires a newer version of WinUAE.
