New divx Version and GameEx

Hi All,

I have recently upgraded DivX to the Play version on their website. I use this to allow me to play Emumovies AVI files for my Emulators. This new version dosent seem to get on with GameEx at all. When GameEx tries to show you a movie Divx minimises GameEx and dosent play the movie. I had to un-install DivX and re-install an older version (5.2.1. I think).

This is just a tip for you all. If it isnt broken dont try to fix it like I did.

I recommend not using the official DivX at all, but using FFDSHOW (its free and better) http://ffdshow.sf.net

As well as not having an annoying tray icon which minimizes GameEx, its actually better quality and dare I say more stable. It also provides just about every codec you need for playing avi files. I can say its extremely stable and it saves installing a bunch of different seperate codecs. I think it also provides an ogg filter for media player, among loads of other good stuff, including audio filters including volume levelling.
