Browsing through some D.O.D. offers today and I came across today's "nooner" for "All-in-One P4 2.4GHz 256MB 40GB DVD FDD 15" LCD Nooner Price: $249.99"

Not a bad price. Little weak in some areas but I thought it might make a good table/bar top unit. Doesn't seem like it would be too difficult to build a cab around. Has anyone done similar with an all-in-one style unit?

My cab has a laptop in it, which is basically the same deal as an all-in-one desktop. The problem is, there comes a point where you feel it would be more use outside the cab.

Also you need to account for the markup in price of it being "all in one".

If you aren't comfortable with mounting the components inside the cab itself, I would recommend buying a "broken" laptop where the screen has been torn off or broken beyond repair. Then you have yourself a cheap little unit you can just plug into a larger monitor. A benefit to this is you can guarantee silent running, you get some good stuff compressed into a small area and it's easier to service because you can just take it out of the cab. Be sure to monitor the temperature though if you have poor ventilation.

I always went for a shuttle in my cabs. I can get an ArcadeVGA card in that and any hard disks, networking etc so it seemed to make sense to me.

I've a shuttle as well although mines a bit dated now. I like them though - they really do look cool.
