hey guys

i now spend 2 hours trying to figure out why zinc stopped working...

It is the Bluetooth device I innsttalled recently!

Bluetooth installs a HID bluetooth game controller device and that makees zinc stop working. when i switch off bluetooth it works fine

i found this out after getting the following message in wberror.txt:

Winter Blast controller plugin v 1.6

DirectInput: 5 joystick(s) found

ERROR: Failed to set joystick X range

unfortunately i can't remove the hid bbluetoooth device. right now tthe only solution is to disabble bluetooth

does somebody know a workaround for this issue?

You could disable the winterblast plugin and use XPadder to remap your joysticks to the appropriate keyboard inputs. This should work, but I haven't tried it.

thanks for the hint

does that mean i just delete the controller.znc file or how do i disable the plugin?

why is zinc so bad with human interface devices and gui's?

I wouldn't delete anything until you get it all worked out. When you setup Zinc, you can tell it what files to use. I think there is a ini file of some kind that contains a reference to controller.znc, but it's been a while, so I would have to search around a bit. I'm not at my cab, so you would probably find it much faster than me.

If it were me, I would just create a new Zinc directory and start over from scratch (holding on to the original dir until you are content with your setup). That way, you can always go back to your old config if you can't get it going just right.

i'll try it out with this cmd option:

--controller=<value>

i usually do the same when it comes to figuring out errors, i create different setups to see if i can get it to work this way!

i'll let you know if i can get it to work with bt switched on

i was able to get zinc to run again with bluetooth enabled.

i had to disable winterblasts plugin to get it to work.

brian if you read this: i tried to remap the buttons in xpadder, but i must admit i have no clue how to do this.

i want to remap the standard zinc buttons, which i don't know unfortunately to the x-arcade controller...

thanks for help in advance
