Hey guys,

first of all, sorry for starting so many new posts, but at the moment I have some time (well, i should write on my thesis though) and there are a few things in my configuration that still bug me. I hope someone can help me with one of the following questions:

1. i have a weird problem with gameex and mame. when i startup the cab and want to play a mame game, it starts up, but i cant't control it. i can only close mame by task manager since nothing else works at this point and after that all the games work fine through gameex... it seems like gameex displays the game, but the game is "not on top"

2. when i click on the gameex option "use bezel for vertical games", no vertical games work anymore. it seems like this option that tom programmed si not working with the newer versions of mame anymore. i find this option very useful, since i don't want any artwork displayed when it's 4:3 anyway. Is there a way to make this option work again? or is theare a filter to apply to mr. do's artwork collection?

3. I have an X-Arcade Controller. Now I want to play C64 games with it. I set up WinVice and the program works and the game loads. But most of the games I just can't control. I changed all the settings in the controller setup to fit my needs but it seems like it didn't do anything. (giana sisters for example: the second controller works as input/ international karate can't be controlled) do i need to setup additional keys like spacebar and enter or is the x-arcade button configuration just wrong for winvice?

4. The Arcade machine is in our living room (i live with roommates) and the jukebox starts up when gameex is on. This is very nice for parties etc. But as soon as a game starts up, the music fades off. Now I don't want to annoy people on a party with only arcade sounds. Can you guys think of an idea how to let gameex ask before a game starts if you want mame sounds / jukebox off or mame sounds off / jukebox on?

i hope somebody is willing to drop me a line. thanks in advance

cheers and happy gaming,

chriss

I guess noone is really into these specific questions..

well, i just figured out the most annoying thing: mame not accepting input on startup

it seems like if you switch gameex to keep the current resolution you could run in troubles like that, i just defined the resolution again manually (1024x768) and guess what, that did the trick!

now if i only could fix these other iussues... :)

1. Press TAB inside Mame and check that your controls are mapped correctly

2. Edit GameEx.ini and change BezelVersion=1 to BezelVersion=2

3. C64 and Amiga games sometimes require input from the keyboard

4. Check out "Audio Settings" in particular "MAME Audio Mode". You can set it to continue playing the jukebox when you run a game (Select the first option "Play Playlist Audio and run MAME with Sound").

thanks m8, much appreciated...

i just found out that i still have this annoying bug, switching resolutions didn't work... i have to close mamep.exe once via task manager and then the input for all games work when i start them up a second time

it's somehow weird to see the mouse on top, when the problem comes up

at the moment this bug makes the machine not really usable :(

Try changing to a different version of Mame. I noticed you have a mamep meaning it's optimized so perhaps try download a vanilla version from mame.org.

i tried to run my previously working mame.exe but it doesn't even start anymore... maybe there is something wrong in the configuration...
