I am still pretty new to GameEx, but from what I have seen it is an amzing program. What I am trying to do is get the video player to play shortcuts as well as the standard avi files. I have all my videos in separate catagories like, comedy, action, etc. That works great if you want to only put the video in one catagory. But lets say you have a science fiction video that might also be good in a action catagory, a link to the original file would take much less space than another copy of the same video file. I am trying to do something like the different catagories in the music section. I did try to search the site and FAQs for any help before posting, I hope I didn't miss anything. Thanks in advance for any help.

That wouldn't be a problem in Linux since it has a good linking system. Unfortunately, Windows link files SUCK! I don't think there's any way to do this. It sounds like you are trying to use subfolders which is a problem from the start. I don't think videos or games can be in subfolders. I think it's ok with music, but the others just don't work.

Thank you for your input. This Hardlinks might do the trick. Hopefully when I go into the multimedia and video menu after doing this the Hardlinks will show up in the list. I will try this tonight. Maybe in the future GameEx can have something that allows things to show up in differnt genere, or classes. I love the way Mame separates into different lists by year, alpha, vector, fighting etc. I will try the Hardlinks when I get home tonight and post the results. Thanks again for your help. ;)

SWEEEEEEET!!!!! I didn't know that could be done!

I haven't read the docs on the Linux/Unix ln command recently. How does LSE compare? I see there are around half a dozen ways to implement a link via LSE, but I'm not yet clear on which one to use on a typical implementation. Guess I'll just have to play around and see how it works.

Thanks!

Just wanted to say thanks again to Headkaze for your info. After messing around with it for a few days now, I feel that it is exactly what I needed. Its nice to know that people with vast knowledge of GameEx are willing to help others.
