Voices for Speach plugin

Errrr Speech. Too fast fingered, doesnt look like I can edit a title...

Anyway...

I was emailed samples of a Crystal and Rich Text to Speech voices. Can anyone suggest where to acquire them for use with the LED LCD Plugin?

I think you have to get the AT&T Labs Text-to-Speech engine as well as the voices.

I used the following demo to create the samples used in the PluginLCD, but I know people have used the Crystal voice with the speech plugin too.

BTW Vista has a new voice called Micrsoft Anna which sounds a bit like Crystal. I believe you can get the Anna voice on XP if you install Microsoft Streets and Trips.

Hmm you must not need the att engine. If other people have used it with the plugin, as the plugin only seems to look at MS text to speech. Or is there a way to point it to a different engine?

When you install the AT&T Speech engine along with some voices it will show up as a standard voice in MS Text to Speech. So yes you do need to install the AT&T engine and AFAIK it's not free.

This place seems to have packs for $35 each. I havent seen a price on att's site yet. http://sites.fastspring.com/nextup/product/nvalone. I assume that installing from these guys would make it available to MS text to speech api.

It says each 16bit voice is around 600MB, that sounds very attractive.
