Getting Gamepad to Work With Vanilla MAME

Hi. I've only been accustomed to mapping mame to keys on a keyboard. I bought a Logitech RumblePad 2 wireless controller and although it works fine in GX, i've no idea how to configure it in mame (0.115). Something else funny - when hit 'tab' during a MAME game it brings up the menu but when i 'enter' i cant get into 'Input General'. Any ideas anyone ?

Make sure you tell MAME to use joysticks. I think you need to add -JOY to the command line. I don't recall what it is cause I just set it in the MAME.ini file. Find where it asks what inputs you want enabled and put a 1 for joysticks.

your UI select key has probably been changed.

Id try removing you default.cfg

Yeah, i've noticed that Brian. It's '1' for some reason. On mame 0.109 on another machine i'm using i thought it was 'Enter'. Thanks, will give it a go later.

Somtimes the Diff patches will reassign your keys...
