Is there a way for GameEx to display more than one flyer (or snap or marquee for that matter)? For some games, there are many very interesting flyers, but I only know how to pick one to display.

Im afraid the only real way to do it is with a graphic editor and put them together into one image to the best of my knowledge!

ATM, there is only one path for each type of image (marquee, cabinet, title, etc.). I don't think there's any way around that to get more images than that.

That's true that there are only so many paths...But you can "sacrifice" one, and use it for Secondary flyers, here's how:

Take one of the artwork categories that you aren't using (in my case PCB's), and in mame settings, point the path for PCB's to your secondary flyers (separate file from flyers). Then, go to Langauge, and select "Custom". Find the entry for PCB's, and change it to Secondary Flyers, or whatever makes YOU happy.

Now in Gameex, when you select a game, and it shows the options for marquees, cabinets, etc. when you select "Secondary Flyers", it will display the optional flyers, or marquees, or whatever you put in the folder. If you want to see it fullscreen, press whatever key (button) you have setup as "select". I believe to exit fullscreen, you press "escape"

Hey everybody....

Do you like apples?

I answered a question, how do you like those apples?

That's from "Goodwill Hunting".

God, I hope my answer is correct!

Yeah, I thought of that, but I'm using all of the built-in categories. (I like the PCBs!) Maybe I can get rid of title, which isn't really necessary since I have movie previews.

It seems like it wouldn't be too hard for Tom to make this a new feature by either allowing multiple images (they could be named sequentially, like dkong, dkong002, dkong003, etc. I think emu Loaded can do this), or by allowing custom paths to other folders.

I would think custom folders would be better. That way there would be:

Title Path =

Marquee Path =

Snap Path =

...

Custom 1 Path =

Custom 2 Path =

Custom 3 Path =

I doubt more than 3 would be needed, but it's something that, if incorporated, could be easily expanded down the road if needed. Incidentally, if you opt to reallocate your title path, you can change what text appears so it's appropriate via the customize text section in the setup wizard.

BTW, this would make a good feature request.

And then what? Display them at random? Cycle through them? This is an interesting idea!

GameEx currently cycles through all your artwork when hovering over a game in the list. If you have video snaps, you just have to wait till after they finish. If you have GameEx setup to display the game info page, you will have a link to directly view any of the items (marquee, title, snap, PCB, cab, etc.). This proposed addition would just be more items for the list.

Yeah, I have the info page with marquees, cabinets, Control panel, CPWizard panels, Screen shots. There may be more...I personally feel that the artwork is worth as much as the roms (almost)

I don't think GX rotates through all of the options does it? I was thinking is was two or three categories...

And so far as my other comment, he was saying that he might want more than on flyer for each game in one folder.

In that case I was wondering what he was thinking how GX would handle that situation. (while Flyers is highlighted)

1. display one of the panels at random

2. cycle through them

Does that make sense?

Here are my thoughts on how something like this would ideally work:

The custom paths idea is problematic because some games have a lot of flyers that I'd like to display. For example, if you go to The Arcade Flyer Archive, you'll find that, for example, Astro Blaster has 6 separate flyers, and 8 if you include the German flyers. I don't want to add a separate custom path for each flyer. Instead, I want to be able to name them sequentially and have GameEx display them in the Flyer category automatically To answer Tempest's question, I think it would be great if GameEx both advanced through the flyers automatically after a user set time delay, and also overrode that and displayed the next flyer if a user defined key was pressed. Also, there is no reason why this couldn't be expanded to all of the artwork categories as well, so that you could have more than one cabinet picture or control panel picture.

THEN, just to make the implementation perfect, GameEx could ALSO allow the user to specify custom paths , which would then behave as above. So, for example, I could have a custom folder called "Side Art" and I could have multiple pictures in the folder of the cabinet's side art.

What do you think???

I think it's a good idea. I don't know if you are aware of it, but there is a "stickied" topic for feature requests. I think you should copy your last post to that thread.

Ok, will do. I have a couple of other ideas that I'll put there too.

Thanks!!
