Shifting between Vertical/Horizontal view

I am mounting my monitor, and I realize that if I mount the monitor directly to the bezel I'll be able to take it out and switch between Horizontal/Vertical rather easily. One thing I was wondering is if I could program an Admin button on the control panel to switch the view back and forth from vertical to horizontal.

Switch GameEx? Yes.

Switch MAME and other Emulators? I don't know.

To switch GameEx, you press control+TAB. I think this rotates the screen 90°, so this may not be exactly what you want but it will work. I would use either AHK or XPadder depending on how your controls are set up to convert the single button press into the correct sequence.

To change the rotation of the monitor in Windows, I don't know the procedure. However, if you can figure out what you want done and do it manually, it's always possible to automate it with AHK (or AI if that's what you prefer).

It's also possible that your video card supports rotation. I have a dell with crappy on-board video, and it does...

One other option is the free program iRotate (http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/irotate.shtm)

you can setup a hot key to rotate your screen whenever you need it.

I've been using it for about a week now and seems to be working well for me.

Actually, for MAME games, just add the "-norotate" to the MAME command line, and all your vertical games should be in the right orientation for you (i.e. you will only have to rotate GameEx with you button).
