I'm guessing its been a while since you upgraded. Its the theme your using, its quite old and needs to be updated to work with newer versions of GameEx.

However there was a new setting in GameEx recently that makes it not load all the different backgrounds (which I think is what the theme is missing). Try turning it off. Its Called Advanced Graphics under display.
