I've got my vlite vistax64 up and going and I decided it was time to see what GameEx makes of it...

I keep all my emulation related data on a separate drive E: so I thought it should be a straight reinstall of GameEX over the top of the old folder and everything will be as it was before I upgraded... I thought to be safe I'll just make a copy of my GameEx folder before reinstalling GameEx over the top of the previous install.

So I installed GameEx and fired it up to be greeted with the please register screen!? followed by the default theme and menu rather than my old registered version with all my previous settings... I thought not to worry I'll just delete that directory put my backup back in it's place... having replaced the folder I fired it up but it's still unregistered and all the default settings!?

What gives? I could've swore I seen a few posts before saying that you could just reinstall GameEx over the top of your old files and it would keep your original config?

Any help is greatly welcomed, I really don't want to reconfigure everything again

64 bit windows installs gameex to program files (x86)\gameex by default not program files\gameex. If you cpoied GameEx to the latter delete it and copy your old install to the correct location.

If your key is not working on 64 bit windows yourll need to email me.

Sorry I was being a twat :) I had actually installed GameEx to 'C:\GameEx' instead of 'E:\GameEx' :)

I reinstalled to the proper folder and everything is as it was, my old key worked a treat

Thanks guys

That's nothing, The last time I updated, Tom overwrote my Zinc folder, and stole all of my loaders. (You need to find a new source for loaders Tom) In addition to that, In the past, he has also caused Visual Pinball and PJ64 to stop working, and I'm pretty sure he now has pictures of my wife. All I can tell you is that at this point I have turned automatic updates off, and somehow he still manages to screw up stuff on my computer. I am planning in the near future to disable my network card, and if that doesn't stop him, I'm going to start running my computer off of a battery, and a power inverter. I don't care what it takes, I will stop him from Froggin' up my configurations!

I'm watching out for you Tom.... ;)

Actually I think you misunderstand whats involved here. GameEx is in fact so advanced it detects if it is you installing it, and then intentionaly screws up your particular system. And yes your wife looks lovely.

Thanks Tom!

Now all the crap you've put me through was worth it! ;)

And yeah, I see what you mean about the configs for Pinball and Project 64. I just fixed those. Although on the zinc I am definitly innocent. In fact my original configs did work, so really I was just trying to confuse people.

Seriously I fixed up those configs. I also went through and set showdesktop to True for everything. Should help, as Im convinced eventually Brian will burn out, and BK is already showing signs. lol

Oh my god! I was totally joking about everything... You really were breaking my stuff? Now I'm really pissed!

I would appreciate it if you would return the pictures of my wife...I don't have copies! :(

Edit: People also will post their configs for Visual Pinball, and it will say:

configfile=Project 64 V2

I've found at least three different users posting this... Is that you too?
