mightypeniz
Doh - should've posted my question in this thread instead - http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=2082Cheers,BrettVideo Feature Request: Support for mounting images to drives with Alcohol 120 or DAEMON Tools. This would be useful for DVD's & for Video CD's.There's a daemon tools scripting kit around somewhere, which will allow you to do this independantly of GameEx. might just mean writing a batch/vbs script to call it before your EMU exe is called...eg:@echo offimgmountblah [drive letter] [path to ISO]emulator.exeimgmountblah [drive letter] /unmountedit: DaemonScript - http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/download.p...nload&id=
Tom Speirs
It would be great to have Winkawaks and Final Burn integrated into GameEx.I am trying to run them from GameEx since I discovered this amazing front end, but until today I have no luck making it.I remembered once I asked on the forum about it and Tom replyed asking me if I had an old PC.My Pc is pretty new and with decent hardware, but still I would like to run Winkawaks and Final Burn on my cabinet. They work better than Mame in my opinion. It would surely be great using them.Anyway, thanks for your time and attention. It seems FinalBurn Alpha is doable as it supports command line options and game list output. Would that be good enough for you guys?
lingpanda
It seems FinalBurn Alpha is doable as it supports command line options and game list output. Would that be good enough for you guys?Final Burn would be great. Although WinKawaks also supports command line. Only problem is exiting out of the emulator requires pausing emulation. Maximus Arcade is a frontend that has support for both. Ive tried to figure out how maximus handles WinKawaks but failed.
Judgelord
Tom, it would be great!!!As Lingpand said Winkawaks also supports command line options. But for me it would be enough if only FinalBurn Alpha could be run through Game Ex.That, for sure, would be a hack of a gift for me.Thanks a lot for all you time and support. TX_TRINITY
Final Burn Alpha and WinKawaks are awesome emulators, tho and I don't want to sound self-contradictory here, does mame now support these emu's roms as well? I loved final burn alpha & winkawaks pre-gamex days, I do reckon that they are indeed worthy of inclusion into Gamex somehow. If Tom's prioritylist permits that is!I've not (recently) attempted to integrate them into Gamex, I'll be spending sometime readin up on how to get them workin in Gamex and post any results here.I was adding to this thread to enqiure about how to integrate DVBviewer into Gamex. I've got a skystar two pci card & sat dish pointed at the uk free to air channels and can network serve the stream (and control it) from any pc in the house with DVBviewer client set up on it. Which whilst is not a phenomenal set of channels, it's a good alternative to a second digibox. I've not got Media Center XP installed anywhere, just ol' vanilla XP pro on all the boxes here. To be honest I should look at adding it as a config and setting command params etc, but just wanted see if Tom (or any other experienced Gamex user) has tried it yet. It's not really a feature request to be honest, more of a 'has anyone tried it request!'www.dvbviewer.comCheerskeep up the good work Tom, we all enjoy the benefits of your hobby, long may it continue!EDIT: update on DVBviewer.Been trying out DVBviewer as an external app. The software does have option to go full screen at start so used that, DVBviewer doesn't have any ability to map joystick buttons to functions like channel up and down, would it be possible to add the following ini lines to work within the (really neat) mouse emulator routine for external apps? Just wondering! # For registered users, the ability to control the mouse with a gamepad and/or directional keys. #--#--# mapping for the above and buttons 1 and 2 Button 1/CTRL becomes left mouse. Button 2/ALT Right mouse MouseMappingEnabled=True MouseSpeed=0--==> these I've added in the following into pc mouse v3.ini in the vague hope it would work. Button1=1 Button2=2 Button3=32 Button4=53 Button5=54 Button6=49 Button7=37 Button8=39 Button9= Button10=
TX_TRINITY
In regards to final burn, my understanding would be that it would like zinc/model 2.It would be helpful for me to know what benefits Final Burn Alpha has over MAME, although I did notice it has excelent software scaling features, but doesnt MAME Plus and AdvanceMAME have similar?I did notice that the VSYNC Option was greyed out, although it did support my HD projector resolution.I just really want to know, is this going to be a big benefit to folks or not?To be honest, Mame for me handles this well enough for using, I've not done a like for like compare to WinKawaks & final burn vs Mame either. You should be able to do it with an emulator config. Im moving away from supporting External Apps, as theres an option in the Enulator config now to make it just run one app. In addition, the joystick mapping (that you've cut from the above) does in fact work in conjuction with the mouse emulation, maybe you misunderstand - or I do!?I was considering using it as an emulated config, after I posted all that. I suspect I may have misunderstood a couple of parts of the .ini file. Not a problem. I'll try it as an emulated config and see how it goes. Cheers Tom! I tested it yesterday with an old computer an AMD Duron 800Mhz with 512 Mb of Ram and the gameplay was really good. If someone wanna give it a go here it is:http://rapidshare.de/files/15293940/fbevo.zip.htmlorhttp://www.snk-neofighters.com/modules/wfd...d=45&lid=24Being able to run FinalBurn would mean that GameEx could be also used with slower computers. As far as I can see this is a great benefit. There are some other features on FinalBurn. I will be testing it tonight and I post them here.
BinaryBin
Would be nice to have a Smart NO BRACKET's, So that say it takes the brackets off everything that doesn't have an exact name. For example, say 1942 (Playchoice-10) and 1942 (set 1) those 2 games will end up just saying 1942... so it makes it look weird and like there are doubles and hard to see which is which. But if there was a little smart checking before removing the brackets on included sets, it would not filter out those brackets on those sets that have exact names with no brackets, But still removes brackets out of everything else. would make the list look alot better. hansolo77
I just leave the brackets on.
BinaryBin
I just leave the brackets on.Well yeah so do i currently, but that kinda makes the feature to turn it on and remove brackets pointless if everybody will just leave it off because it doesn't care if the name is identical to another, leaving what looks to be duplicates but really different games. I would love to turn on the feature to remove them if it would just not remove from the games that have exactly identical names with brackets taken away. Would make the list look really nice, especially to get rid of those (USA 353432). Those look ugly Maybe i'm just picky ;P but I do think doing a Smart Version of the No Brackets feature would really add to this.
Nologic
Okay I didn't read through the list...but this is a feature I didn't notice in GameEx and thats being able to exclude games based on a regular expression...or for that matter group by regex as well.Kind of a catch all for filtering games based on the markup used on them...like "(J)" for Japan. This way you could create a group for Japaness games or exclude them from being listed...depending on your prefs. Not sure how many people would use this...but may find wider use if its saved out to config files to be shared. Adultery
Just out of curiosity...Since GameEx now loads all the emulators game lists on a thread, will there be a search feature forthcoming? Emulators added to the screen saver* was a possibility if the game lists were loaded n a thread, so.... Is that something I can look forward to?Will there be Model2 v0.3 support added?finally for those who likes this baby there is an update ... here is a distription : After more than 2 years without updates here is a new version of my Model 2 Emulator. The main changes are all speed related. The emu should be faster now. Also it now supports Frameskip and AutoFrameskip. This will probably be the last version of the emulator unless some Fujitsu TGP MB86234 docs appear to finish the emulation of the 2 and 2A cores.http://nebula.emulatronia.com/Just wonderin. *=I was thinking if this were to happen, you would have to have some sort of mute option so the sound doesn't play while the console emulatoris running, or add a command line for adding -nosound (or whatever the emulator command is) which will only run during the screensaver. wblake0000
I was wondering if you could turn off the AracadeAmbience.mp3 when you start playing a game from the screensaver. Occassionally I see a game that looks cool and start playing it but Arcade Ambience.mp3 still keeps going so I can't hear the game's sounds over it.~William Blake

MtDew12oz
How about a new view, maybe we could see a gallery view of all the emulated games by screenshots, and you just scroll around and see what catches you eye and play gallery view of all the screenshots, click and loads emu and away you go.Or a gallery view by marquee shots. A list view, 3 or 4 (changeable?) mini marquees wide.
BinaryBin
Or a gallery view by marquee shots. A list view, 3 or 4 (changeable?) mini marquees wide.I think a Marquee gallery view would also be nice for mame, Like all the marquee no other text, just the pic, and you scroll down in list view though the marquee I was thinking also for other emulators though, say for example the Genesis, you have this Gallery View of just all the screenshots, and the name can appear up top when you are on a selected game, but other then that, it just all the pics laid out across the screen. I guess pretty much like a photo gallery

Using the Genesis suggestion, you could set up these emulators to browse by like box art, then it's just like shopping for a game 10 years ago! TX_TRINITY
This is nothing major, it may even be something I need to set here. I'm using the UK Sky service to download the movies they they show on air. These are downloaded as WMV's with a license attached to it so I can only watch the downloaded movie on the pc I downloaded it. In this case my Living room HTPC. In XP if I double click it, it runs wm10 no probs and shows the movie. Here's the rub. If I browse to the same directory in Gamex and get it to play the movie it goes black and then dumps back to Gamex. Is there any way (not vital this happens btw) to get Gamex to play the licensed movie. I suspect that the DRM on the movie is not being allowed when playing through Gamex. I'm not wanting to strip the DRM from it or anything.Just curious if it's possible to utilise DRM movies from within Gamex.Your awesome work is much appreciated as ever. I could call it a 'nice to have' feature, at least it could (possibly) bring Gamex into the DRM realm of entertainment, which no doubt is becoming a bigger fixture as studios offer downloads with their DVDs etc.. HD TV downloads I could go on... Thoughts, flames and ideas most welcome!EDIT: Also I see you have the radio taking .asx audio feeds is there any way to add URLS for WebTV feeds?I'm trying to get http://www.nasa.gov/145590main_Digital_Media.asx as a full screen channel through gamex, not sure if there's already a way to do it but being able to handle wmv & asx feeds directly would be soo so cool.2nd EDIT: Tried implementing it as a HTML Application, but it didn't work. Closest it got was to launch WMP10 but not full screen. Is there a command line I can make to launch the URL into fullscreen?
Adultery
New feature requests for the theme editor / GameEx:1) Is there any way you could tell the program code to center snaps within the input field? My images appear to be top aligned.2) Can something be implimented to change where media player buttons are layed out? I have a new toolbar I would like to use and GameEx doesn't support my order. Thanks!
