bkenobi
I've just purchsed GameEx and have noticed one thing that would make it 'complete' for me.The ability to put other emulators ("Commodore 64", "Sega Genesis", etc) on the main menu page and remove all other options like "News", "Configuration", "Multimedia", etc.All I want on the main page is:MAMECommodore 64Sega GenesisMost PlayedFavoritesExit/Shutdown (Though I'd like to be able to hide this if possible). Not a problem. You can disable most features in the Advanced Configuration utility. If you want MAME on the main menu, you can select that. If you want flat menus (like you requested here), select that as well. I actually have my installation set up just like this.

DJ Infinity
Hello Tom,I dunno if this has been asked for but if possible is there any way to run vertical games only during screensaver for vertical mamecabs? Thank you
bkenobi
Have you considered filtering the games to just have vertical games?Alternately, you might be able to create a emulator item that just lists vertical games and runs through MAME. Then, disable the primary MAME items for the screen saver and enable the vertical emulator listing ones in the screen saver.Tom might have a better way, but that would at least work... bobbler
Request for a better navigation of a big list. For instance Mame is now around 3000+ games. Would be nice if you could say hold down your joystick for a few seconds and rather than just going through each item it popped up with the first letter in the corner and began to scroll through them, releasing the joystick or pressing a button at the first letter of the rom name. This is kinda like the Sony MP3 players handle big lists. Also on a navigation front would it be possible to analogue the scroll so that using a spinner control you could race through the list rather than one at a time as if you are just pressing a key each time?I know about the paging "shift" key which I have mapped to one of my buttons, but it still takes an age if you want to play something like Xevious which is right down the bottom. This would be more from a cabinet perspective where a keyboard has no place IMO.Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
bkenobi
If you know about the "shift" key, then perhaps you aren't aware of "alpha paging". If you turn it on (I think it's on by default, but I'm not sure) then you can hold the "shift" key and right/left joystick to scroll forward/backward to the next letter. If you hold down the "shift" key and hit up/down it will page up/down in the list. Hope that helps!Oh, and there are actually over 6000 games in the current mame set! I assumed alpha paging was some sort of fancy graphics display option.6000 with clones though, I just have the use clone if better option on which reduces them down somewhat. Jontox
It seems like there a lot more options available within the CONFIGURATOR if accessed in Gameex than by using the WIZARD.... BUG ?Jontox
iano
Hi Tom. I love the media centre theme and the way the title toolbar scrolls out but i would prefer to have it stay there as long as the mouse pointer is over it because (cue feature request) i would like to see the artist\track\info etc (in jukebox) scroll left to reveal the entire info from the track (artist/song etc ) currently playing. I would like to see it continually scroll while that track is playing (like my ipod). I know space is limited because of the controls on the right of the title toolbar (i like the controls there) but it would be nice to see all the track info.Thanks,iano. hansolo77
An interesting idea for control panels.... have the option in the configurator (or wizard) to show the control panel prior to launching the game. Just have the player start the game, and it switches to the control panel screen, and shows it for a (configurable) amount of time or until they press the start button. That way it resolves the question from another thread here in the forum. I think this is a cool idea, easily implemented, and can be turned on and off if desired. bkenobi
This can be done with external applications, but I agree this would be MUCH easier to configure if it were built into the FE!

ShAddiX
I had the idea of favourites/folders like in MAME for every Emulator. You create .ini files like "Sport Games" and put the names into the ini file. And then you have a favourites oder folder option in the menu of the emulator. It would help to organize the games of other emulators.Would it be hard to integrate this?Keep up this great piece of work! =)
Robert
It would be great if the Attract mode could play MNG files in addition to AVIs. I like the CrashTest MNG+MP3 collection for Attract mode better than the EmuMovies AVIs because they only have in-game play and do not have the intro titles, etc. Of course, I'd like to be able to play the game whose MNG (or AVI) is playing by hitting a button.Possible? Robert
Version 8 is great! It would be nice if you could easily re-order the list of emulators, so that, for example, all the Nintendo emulators could be next to each other, the Atari, etc. without having to re-enter them all in the right order. MrScary
I'm sure this may have been requested before, but I will ask anyway....Is there a way (or future feature) to manually remove a game from the list(s) without resorting to filtering? Sometimes when I filter it takes some games away I don't want it to. I know that this would be tedious (especially the mame list!), but it would be nice. For example, there are 3 or 4 versions of a specific game and I want to use version 2 for some reason. I would then like to remove 1, 3, and 4. Thanks!Carpe Diem!

Robert
I thought Iâ??d re-post this here since the discussion seems to have been dropped in the main section. Itâ??s more of a feature request at this point anyway. Here is my original post, along with bkenobiâ??s suggestive response:I used the setup wizard to re-order my list of emulators so that all the Atari's were next to each other, the Nintendo's were next to each other, etc. BUT, then I looked at my favorites, sorted by system, and they were all wacky! The Atari 2600 games were listed under Colecovision, the Sega games were listed under NES, etc. It seems that the associations didn't survive the re-ordering. Any suggestions?Bkenobi then wrote:Since this is all within GameEx, why can't the request just be to have GameEx update the list whenever you reorder or add emulators? Or delete emu's as well. This shouldn't be a major task. If an emulator is moved or removed and there are favorites associated with it update the list of favorites to change "Emu 2 Game 11" to "Emu 3 Game 11". This is something that is probably just an oversight anyway...
mario_superstar
Hi all!I would like to change the default folder image in the video section. I have tried to change the icon directly under windows but it seems that is a default logo in gameex...(am I right tom?)Is there a way to customize it? like we can do for emulator logoes? Here is the yellow folder I want to change or customize: I am making my revisited dark gloss theme (not finish yet), I run it on HDTV resolution 1280*720here are some screenshots:Thanks in advance for your help... Robert
Ability to sort emulators without that messing up your favorites. As it works now, you can use the wizard to sort your emulators, but then all the favorites associated with the emulators (potentially hundreds of games across many emulators) forget which emulators they're favorites of.
