SWOS crashes when trying Career Mode.

Sensible World of Soccer (winuae loader) plays perfectly until I attempt a career game. Then the screen goes blank, and it crashes.

Any ideas why?

That would either mean your game rom is bad or the game is not emulated properly by winuae or the version of winuae your using. Its not a gameex or winuae loader issue.

I am using WINUAE Loader. I have all versions of swos and they all crash the same. I don't believe it is a bad rom issue.

I just tried swos with WINUAE and the career mode works fine. But I can't remap the keys for WINUAE, and there is an issue with having to exit gamex to save - issues solved with loader.

It's a Winuae loader issue. I've ran the games stand alone through loader and it crashes (when trying career mode), so it's not a gameex issue.

I'm lost as to the problem.

OK, but does the game run without using the loader in Winuae itself?

As far as I am aware, only Loader can run the WHD's. They are zipped files. I tried to load them in WinUAE and got 'unknown command'. I have tested an adf version of swos with winuae and it works fine (in career mode too). However I need to get Loader working. I only want it for swos.

Thanks Headkaze, but the thing is, I want to play swos through Loader not WinUAE. I can't remap keys easily on WinUAE and I have to exit to save.

OK tried that. The screen just goes black when I pick my team (in career mode). It's slightly different from before. When using winuae 1.4.6 the game actually crashed. With 1.4.5 the screen goes black.

So in sum, still not working.

Are there different video settings for career mode vs. the "regular" mode?

OK, season works fine, and it saves fine too. It's JUST career mode which wont work. This is the best mode of the game so I really want to get it working.

Just FYI headkaze, take a look at the image I have uploaded of my save game file (it's the one named BBB) for swos season. It's weird. Can you shed some light on it?

Actually from what Ive read that aint right.

But didnt you say it was a different ROM you tested in WinUAE?, an AHF?

Its deffinitly not the Loader. All that does is launch WinUAE. Its not technically possible for it to be a probem with the loader.

Ah yes, my mistake.

Winuae uses an adf whereas loader uses whd. However, I cannot imagine that all 6 versions of whd swos are bad. They have all been downloaded 1000+ times and are still available for DL.

with that idea, it reflects how it is in the soccer world today and it works fine

on the PC version.

The problem is that the AMIGA version doesnt like that and is one of the reasons why

some previous versions have crashed.

So I begun doing my own updates, some italien, spanish and english teams.

After a while I gave up, too much work and so many teams..Well its more

because I found a new update pack online.

As far as i understand, people from swos.erdinc.info have done these updates as they

are planning to make it availible for the PC.

Whiteulver has somehow patched(?) the updates so they work on the Amiga version.

It really works! I have played an entire career without a crash.

Nope, that doesn't work because Loader won't pick up the swos .hdf file.
