You have a problem with Emulator 17. Says the path does not exist. If this is one that you setup then you need to check your settings. If not then just disable it and you should be good to go.

Posted

yes - I know i can disable it and Gameex then runs fine - but I want to get this setup- so where should I start looking for the problem - please explain in simple terms as I have a simple mind :(

Thanks !

Your WORKINGPATH. is the path the the emulator exe. Basiclly it cant find the EXE.

In order for us to help you out we need to know what your setting up and how your going about it.

The log is fine and all but it lacks the detail of the emu config...

What is the emulator your trying to setup. Also you can Export your config using the gameex configuration app.

Just go into emu 17 and the 2nd or 3rd option is EXPORT. Please post your config and we can tell you how to fix it.

Brian Hoffman

What version of project64 are you using?

Well you're not pointing to the right path for Project64.

Change the path to where you have that emulator in setup wizard. See highlighted in yellow in pic below

Another thing I notice is that when I follow the path c:/emulators/project64/emulator.....their are two items in this folder

Project64.cache (1KB)

setup Project64 1.6

When I launch the setup up file - WHERE should I place it?

Thanks

Oh wow... Umm

First.. run the setup file... Whereever you tell the installer to extract the file to will be your WORKINGPATH. After that verify a file named PROJECT64.exe exists in that folder..

After that. Run project 64.. Configure the emu to launch full screen on rom load and all plugins... Make sure you can launch a game.

After that verify those paths in your gameex config you posted is accurate.

Note: depending on your version of project64 the command may be either

project64.exe "[rompath]/[romfile]"

or

project64.exe [rompath]/[romfile]

Good luck!

OK...

I think I am making progress.

I have a few emu's loading up now and GameEx shows them.

problem one - project64 - when I select a game it just goes to a black screen.

Now I can run project 64 without going thru gameex.

problem two - MESS - I can get the program to run thru GameEx but when it tries to load a game it flashes very quickly and looks to be 10 times as large as it should be then flashes back to the selection menu

Any thoughts??

Thanks !

1) Is there sound? Does it sound like its playing in the background? If so, change:

ShowDesktop=False

to

ShowDesktop=True

2) GameEx is at a different resolution than the other emulator. One option is to tell GameEx not to change resolutions and get them correct in each emulator. I don't know if that will fix the crash, but that's something you need to check outside of GameEx by running the "Run Last Game.bat" file in the GameEx Start menu.

Posted

I tried both of these.

the first suggestion did not work - when it opened on the desktop it said "file failed to load"

the same thing when I ran the "run last game" :(

can you take a look at this logfile and see if you see something for me?

Thanks

You must have it running outside of GameEx before it will ever work inside. I don't use MESS, so I can't advise you on how to set it up, but there are tons of threads both here and at other forums that deal with that or perhaps another member can guide you. Once you have it running outside of GameEx, then it's just a matter of sending the right command line and changing a couple settings in the GameEx configuration file to get it going.

I can see only one thing that you can try. In your configuration for the command line, you need to have quotes around the path.

16:43:59.6 4/3/2008: Running: cmd.exe /c C: mess.exe a5200 -cart C:\Emulators\MESS\good5200\5200ren\defender (1982) (atari) [b1].zip -joy -now -nonewui

should be:

16:43:59.6 4/3/2008: Running: cmd.exe /c C: mess.exe a5200 -cart "C:\Emulators\MESS\good5200\5200ren\defender (1982) (atari) [b1].zip" -joy -now -nonewui

So you need to set the command line to something like:

mess.exe a5200 -cart "[rompath]\[rom]" -joy -now -nonewui

Also, it looks like there is no path for mess.exe. I think it should look like:

C:\Emulators\MESS\mess.exe a5200 -cart "C:\Emulators\MESS\good5200\5200ren\defender (1982) (atari) [b1].zip" -joy -now -nonewui

I fixed the quote problem, but still did not help

maybe I should try something other then MESS.

what do you use for atari?

Also, did you have any other ideas about

project64 - when I select a game it just goes to a black screen.

I can run project 64 without going thru gameex.

Also

I setup ZSNES

it is doing the same thing as PJ64

goes to the game and I can hear the music but its a BLACK screen.

I tried both of these.

the first suggestion did not work - when it opened on the desktop it said "file failed to load"

the same thing when I ran the "run last game" :(

This is the same error that I'm getting on pj64. The sad thing is I (with help from Brian) had it working before. So if you guys would hurry up and help Spuds get this working, then I'm sure mine will work too! ;)

Like I said, I don't use MESS and I don't currently have any Atari roms. I have a few TI-99/4A roms, but that's another story :D Of course, they aren't set up, so that doesn't help either. Sorry.

Ok. Brian helped me get PJ64 working....

the command line should be: project64.exe [rompath]/[romfile]

Apparently some version of PJ64 require Quotes, and some don't....

Thanks for your help Brian! :)

ok

thanks Brian

did you give some thought to the black screen I am getting with ZSNES and PJ64??

Sorry it takes me so long to respond - I hate it when work gets in the way of my projects !!

Your emu isnt launching fullscreen.. And

you have showdesktop=FALSE in your emu config (gameex)

I thought you had something hard for me ;)

hmmm

when I set ..showdesktop=true - it begins to load the game - then a window appears (PJ64) and an error pops up "attempt to open file failed"

So then on the error box - if I click the "ok" button or try to "X" (close) the box the window fully expands to fullscreen but is white.

If then I go to file..then Open ROM and select a ROM it goes right back to a windowed screen but is now running the game correctly.

P.S> The blood on my forehead is from banging my head repeatedly on my desk..

That's what mine was doing, although I didn't have any blood on my forehead... :P

Thanks Tempest - but no worky for me :(

Now when I run it the window appears and the error reads " File loaded does not appear to be a valid Nintendo64 ROM. Verify your ROM's with GoodN64

P.S> in no way do i blame you for the fresh blood splatter on my keyboard !! ;)

If you read the error message, I'm pretty sure you'll find the answer. If there's any doubt about whether or not it's a Gameex problem, try running PJ64 on it's own (not through the Gameex FE) and starting the same game you tried previously...

As for the other problem:

I highly recommend that you keep a pillow handy (although one of those "keyboard wrist rests" will do)! :P
