Hi,

The only way I can find to convert roms from 7z to zip is to do each one manually. When you select ALL and add to zip, they go into one large folder instead of there own individual named folders.

Any help much appreciated on how to do this batch scale.

I don't have any affiliation with this site or any of these programs, they were simply from one link of a google search.

Look at the other links from this search if those don't work:

Just extract all to another folder and use Winrar to zip to individual archives. Here are the settings.

Do it from explorer and use following instructions:

1. Select All (Ctrl+A)

2. Right Click and select Add to archive

3. Choose Zip for Archive format

4. Click on Files tab and option should be available. If not then let me know and I'll let you know of another way.

LOL. No problem. Glad you got it working! There's also a program out there called romzip that I used to use but when I found out that Winrar does it I stopped using it.

How do you do the opposite almost, and convert a high number of folders into zip files?

Into individual Zips for each folder? Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly. But if you wanna zip a large amount of folders in to zips then it works the same way except your selecting folders instead of files. If not then please explain.

Its ok I figured it out. Thanks again!

Cool, I wasn't aware that WinRAR had that built in. That's a much better approach than getting a special program just for that since everyone SHOULD have WinRAR!

Good to know that I know something. LOL. :P

I have a problem. Winrar IS zipping them, but they are still showing as 7z format, and so romcenter still does not recognize them or any of the roms within them.

I have attached images for your perusal. romcenterproblem_1 shows that the files are still in 7z format after being 'zipped'. romcenterproblem_2 shows romcenter does not recognize any of the files. romcenterproblem_3 shows again that the zipped files are still 7z.

Any help much appreciated.

You were suppose to extract them from 7z first and then zip them.

Also why not just rebuild them with clrmame pro? Clrmame will read them from 7z and rebuild them to zip format.

Ok thanks. I figured it out just a moment ago. Feel like an arse now.

I'd love to use clrmamepro but romcenter looks so much easier to work. I've tried clrmamepro and it gets a bit confusing.

Are there any simple guides to using it for cleaning rom lists?

Thanks again.

I use to use romcenter myself for the same reasons but now that I know how to use Clrmame Pro, I will never switch back. You can find a guide here. Also can ask in the clrmame forums. Roman is very helpful with his software and is pretty quick in answering questions.
