Jukebox playlist, picture shuffle, and Sharp.PNG

I have 4 questions about Mame and Gameex. Anyone know the answer to these?

JUKEBOX

1. For some reason, the jukebox won't play from playlists when it starts up. I made a playlist sans the wifes music and put it in as the default playlist in Gameex options and set the playlist to shuffle. Gameex plays the same song to start and it isn't one found in my playlist. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried to creat 3 different playlists and none of them work unless I manually click on them.

SHARP.PNG

2. Many games give me a MAME error "Unable to locate sharp.png". Where is sharp.png supposed to be and where can I find it?

SHUFFLE PICTURES

3. Is there a way to shuffle picutres in the slideshow?

SOUND ISSUES

4. Some games have dreadful sound (echoing, stuttering, and skipping) and anything I try to alter in the Mame settings makes it even worse and turns the sound into a loud static. I have a reasonably fast machine 1.75GHZ but nothing seems to help certain games like (Spiderman, Tron, Toobin, and several others) I do not have triple buffering, v sync or any of those settings checked. Any other suggestions.

Thanks!

2) I searched my MAME directories and couldn't find anything to do with sharp.png. There are some of those that are related to overlays (like cross.png for gun cross hairs), but I don't know about that one.

4) Sound issues where the audio stutters is usually related to having -triplebuffer in your command line (default in GameEx). With a 1.75GHz machine, I would highly suspect that being the problem. Go to the Setup Wizard and navigate to the MAME settings where the command line is located. Remove -triplebuffer from it. You should be good to go now.

TripleBuffer is not checked and neither is any of the other options on that page monitor sync, etc.

I should probably clarify when I get the sharp.png error. It happens when I select a game to play, the screen goes blank as MAME is loading the game, but it prior to the game appearing on the screen, I get the windows beep and a popup window pops up with the error "Unable to locate sharp.png". A second later, the game appears and you no longer see the error dialog box. Maybe someone with much more mame knowledge than me knows what processes are happening just prior to the game loading?

The only thing I could find searching for "Mame +sharp.png" indicated that it is part of a commandline option. Is that part of your Mame options?

I'm sorry, but it's all I could come up with...

I recently uppgraded to gameex 10.05 (now .06) and mame 130 on my arcade.

I have the same problem.

But it is not gameex related because if I launch mame32ui I still have it.

I have searched the internet and so far no success.

I have found a solution (and the reason for error).

Solution : delete all game.ini files in folder mame/ini

reason : the command -effect sharp seems to be outdated as of newer builds of mame. the same effect is applied by default (e.g. -effect none or nonparameter).

Reason for me this happened was clrmame, which produced those inifiles (for example 1941.ini) with the effect sharp commando, even if I use the latest clrmame. Maybe I have som wrong option on in clrmame.
