MAME Compiler 64 and an error I don't understand.. HELP?!

Maybe you folks can tell me where I have made a mistake in my MAME v123 Compile attempt:

Directory Structure:

MinGW in C:\MinGW

MAME Source in Z:\MAME

Diff/Hi Patch in C:\MinGW\Patches

GameEX (reg'd) in C:\Games\GameEX

When I attempt to patch the first 0123u1.diff I get this report on each notice:

Applying Diff Patch...

can't find file to patch at input line 4

Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?

The text leading up to this was:

--------------------------

|diff -Nru src-old/build/build.mak src/build/build.mak

|--- src-old/build/build.mak 2008-01-27 12:19:32.000000000 -0800

|+++ src/build/build.mak 2008-02-12 23:40:12.000000000 -0800

--------------------------

File to patch:

Skip this patch? [y]

Skipping patch.

(example taken from first few lines of Compile Output notes)

Where have I gone wrong?

Thanks folks.

Just as a rule, triple posting is generally frowned upon.... :(

Triple? I only saw a double post.. and I 'closed' that post as best I know how.

Sorry for the double clicking.

I was counting the one in the other thread, I see you changed it.

No problem though, I just thought I'd mention it.

That happens alot.. Some time the forum is slow to respond and you hit post twice.. Its the ones that are 5 and 6 post like spamming that is frowned upon. I removed the duplicate post :)

Are you using the v0.123 or a v0.123u__ release? If you are using a 'u' release, then perhaps the diff isn't happy with patching the source correctly?

I am using MAME v123 (source mame0123b_i686)

The source is extracted into my MAME Folder (and runs just fine in GameEX)

I would like to stick with v123 for now, until I have a v124 rom set.

You are using the binaary... Not the source..

You cannot run the source directly.. If you look at your file name mame0123b_i686

the 123b is binary... the source will be name 123s

Welp, I am a fool.. wrong one I listed. The Source I have is indeed 'mame123s'. *duh*

Do you still have your source in the self extracting Zip file? Perhaps it would be best to start from scratch.

I will try that now.. a complete reinstall will not take me too long since I keep my roms and snap movies on another drive, not CD's. :)

Let me do so now and see if that helps.
