Can you open the video files in media player?

Do the m2v files always have audio or is that associated with the rom? I know that MACH3 has an audio track, but I haven't checked all of them.

Just because you can't open them in media player, doesn't mean they won't work in Daphne. Cue sounds off balls-busting.

(I'm sorry, I couldn't resist!)

I've only just started playing with DAPHNE in the last few days, but I know there are at least 3 ways you can run laser disc games that are currently fairly popular.

1) DAPHNE v0.99.7

2) DAPHNE v1.00

3) Run with whatever the Digital Leisures software is based on (probably DAPHNE v1.00)

I don't know of any compatibility problems, but then again, I have no basis to speak ;)

Its a strange one. Im running it in Vista, are there known problems with Daphne and Vista by any chance?

I run daphne fine in vista.

Tempest I believe your mv2 files are corrupt for the ones that dont play in media player.

Did you try running one of the working games video? Perhaps using media player classic?

You can find it here. C:\WINDOWS\system32\mplay32.exe I bet a whole dollar it will work ;)

Nope, didn't work......you can apply that dollar to my account balance. ;)

What OS are you running?? I seem to get runtime errors in the background under vista

Vista home premium.. worked both with regular and sp1

You need to make sure sure you have the MS-OCX librarys from the daphne page.

yeah just installed (ran as administrator) MS-OCX, still the same problem

If I uncheck Mpeg Search in the Loader I get the Error Msg

Perhaps you have a frame file issue... You dont need to run seek test once you have all needed files.

My frame file looks like this and seems correct

E:\Downloads\Daphne\roms\Cliff Hanger [re-encoded]\

cliff-r.m2v

Im now getting the error "Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working

It doest have a starting frame.. Acorrect one would be

E:\Downloads\Daphne\roms\Cliff Hanger [re-encoded]\

151 cliff-r.m2v

keep in mind 151 is wrong.

Isn't there supposed to be a number before 'cliff-r.m2v' that indicates the offset? Like I said, I just started, but all my framefiles have a number and the m2v file.

Thats normal.. it starts the video at that frame.

In my cliff hanger folder I have 4 files

Cliff-r.dat

Cliff-r.m2v

Cliff-r.ogg

Cliff-r.txt

cliif-r.txt says:

E:\Downloads\Daphne\roms\Cliff Hanger [re-encoded]\

-9 cliff-r.m2v

When I run Daphne I get the error

Cliif_u1.bin could not be found

You apparently either do not have the rom or you do not have the command line pointing to the rom correctly. You need 3 things for DAPHNE to work (a recap):

1) Rom file: The rom for the game you are trying to play

2) Extracted laser disc files: m2v and ogg file(s) in a directory

3) Framefile: The file that tells DAPHNE where the laser disc file(s) are located how they fit together (if there are more than one)

You also need a copy of DAPHNE with the correct command line arguments (easiest to define via the DAPHNE Launcher program).

From the sounds of the error, you either don't have the rom file, you didn't tell DAPHNE where to find it correctly, or you are trying to run a different rom than DAPHNE expected (you called Dragon's Lair and told it the location for ace.zip for example).

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, I think I dont have the rom files! I'm getting them now

Do they go in the same folder as the Cliff-r.dat, Cliff-r.m2v,Cliff-r.ogg ,Cliff-r.txt etc?

In the daphne folder you have a ROMS folder.

Very similar to MAME
