Attract Mode Screensaver

A question regarding the new Attract Mode Screensaver option -- that is, playing commercials (such as those from the MAMEWAH pack) along with game samples. Will this option only work with DIVX-encoded videos? I'd like to get it to play mpegs, but it doesn't seem to be working. Please advise.

Also for video snap/previews, avi (assuming you have the codecs, eg divx, xvid), and MPEG '1' files should work fine. Quicktime, Realplayer, MPEG 2, Motion JPEG, and Windows Media file will not work. Although you could always encode them to avi to get them to work.

Support for other files is not likely to be extended, as its just not easy to do.

To reencode for 'free' you could probably use the latest 'daily' build of FFDSHOW, and virtual dub. Both available from Sourceforge free of charge.

I'm kind of surprised you have AVI support but not MPEG2 or Windows Media support. What playback functions did you use?
