Font size isn't changing

I've gotten my hands on a J-Pac and hooked up to my JAMMA cabinet, using Soft15hz and running GameEx @ 800x600 on a vertical screen (so it's really 600x800) but I can't seem to get the fonts to be big enough. It looks like this now:

I've tried setting the fonts to "biggest" and "Arcade Mode" to 'on' in Advanced Configuration, in my custom theme I've set "Arcade Mode" to 'on' and font (Verdana) size to 72. Font Outline and

What have I missed?

Edit: Got the font sorted out. Redid the theme from scratch using a V2 640x480 theme.

Looks better now. But now I have to fix the "deadzone" on top/bottom (All my games fit the screen perfectly, just got to fit the frontend). Illustrated in the screenshot with darker areas.
