Roms start to load and all I get is blank screen

I've just setup GameEx again and now all my Roms start to load and all I get is blank screen, then Im returned to the menu. This is happening with Mame and my emulators

My Advanced Mame Settings / Mame options are -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy -skip_gameinfo -nowindow -hwstretch -ddraw

My Display settings:

Game Launch Mode: NO

Run in Arcade Mode: No

I've no idea why they wont run now!!!

Well what happens when you launch the RUNLASTGAME.bat?

Its located in the gameex programs group.

Edit the RunLastGame.bat file and add 'PAUSE' to the end of it. Then, rerun the batch file. This will leave it on the screen so you can see the error.

This is probably not right.... I'm depressed today, don't let it bother you...

To me it looks like maybe your paths are not right. It shows roms @ E:\downloads\roms (or something like that)

You are running advance mame with a path of C:\mame32\roms (or something like that)

Are these correct?

use the setup wizard

choose "custom", then "Advancemame" (not advanced mame settings)

then advancemame options... you may have to go to the right to see it, but the path is there.

It looks like this is set at a "standard" path, because mine is the same as yours. I don't use advancemame, so I never noticed.

Good job!

Just to note advanced mame isnt regulary updated so it wont support newer rom sets.. There may be quite a few broken games becuase of this. Id recommed not using advanced mame and stick with regular mame. Advanced mame got its popularity because of the obscure video modes it supported. But when you have programs like soft 15hz there really is no need for it. Especially if you want to play newer games mame supports.

You need to put quotes on the command.

nesemu2.exe "[rompath]/[romfile]"

Id also use nestopia for the emulator.. In the future please create a new thread for new issues as it easier to follow and helps others having the same issues.

I use the advanced configuration.

Check out my screenshot. When you have spaces in the path you need quotes.. on the [rompath]/[romfile]

To setup nestopia.. Create a new entry and fill in all the paths.. For the command it would read

nestopia.exe "[rompath]/[romfile]"

The only paths that are required are

title

page name

working path

rompath

command

..

so it will build the command as follows.

Working path... C:\emus\nes

rompath c:\roms\nes\

romfilter *.zip (if your roms are zipped)

command nestopia.exe "[rompath]/[romfile]"

so when you choose the rom it will build this

C:\emus\nes\nestopia.exe "c:\roms\nes\smb.zip"

I'm on a one answer roll, so I'll give it a shot...

Sure, go ahead and use the setup wizard again go to Custom, this time select "set up emulators" If I remember right, you have to choose your emulator from a drop down list, and then there are four pages for each emulator to set them up in Gameex.

Also in the setup wizard there is a place to download emulators. This time choose "search", and use "download emulators" as the search words. If the emulator you are looking for is in the list, then use gameex to download it.

I think it is best to set up an emulator outside of gameex first, to make sure everything is working, then get it to work in gameex.

Not that it matters at this point since the problems appear to be solved. However, when I suggested running the "runlastgame.bat", I meant running it from windows. It sounds as though you were running it from within GameEx. The purpose for this is that the dos command prompt window that launches with the batch file will remain on the screen. The GameEx log file in that case won't display the error though since GameEx successfully launched the command and it successfully returned after finishing.
