Where is my KoF??

Hi there,

Sorry for this (hopefully) stupid question, but I am scratching my head trying to get King of Fighters and Metal Slug games to show.

This is what I have done:

Run the update

Disable Filtering

Disable the split SNK/Capcom games into a separate menu option

Still no KoF or Metal Slug. These are both NeoGeo games, does that mean something? These games run fine from other MAME frontends so I know they are there and working.

I am not sure if other games are missing as well, but these are the ones I noticed.

Any ideas I can pursue would be appreciated.

Its because your NeoGeo bios is an old version.

The workaround is to turn off Verify Roms in GameEx and turn on Only Roms., and update the list again.

Is it better to turn off verification, or should I rather update the NeoGeo bios?

If so, how is that done, I believe I have the latest version of Mame32.exe.

Turning off verification will also make the listing of ROMs much quicker. Might not affect you if you don't have large numbers of ROMS. Probably best to do both, turn off verification and update your BIOS.

Ok I definitely need to update my BIOS then. I have mame32 v0.97, I see 0.99 is out now, if I upgrade to 0.99 will that include the BIOS updates? Or do I need to get the updated BIOS from elsewhere?

I do have a lot of roms, but am hesitant to turn off verification to only end up with a bunch of games that don't work. I like to have a full working list

BIOS is not included with mame releases, you will need to find it elsewhere, I can't link to it for you due to legal issues but i'm sure with some searching you could find it.

Turning off verification won't mean you have a heap of roms that don't work, simply turn on only working roms and allow imperfect. Much better option.
