Hi,

First off, great front-end...very slick. I'm just putting together

final design plans on a cabinet...came across your frontend and am

hoping to use it. Just wondering, I see you have some settings

within GameEx to specify that you're using an Arcade VGA card.

I'm just wondering if GameEx uses the 800x600 60hz resolution

for all the menu screens etc.? It seems to switch to a max 640x480

screen when the arcadeVga settings are on...

(I'll be using a wellsGardner D9200)

Sorry for the newbie question!

Hello Erk,

I am also using the WG-D9200. Don't waste your money on the ArcadeVGA card, you do not need it. At least in my experience, you can run at 800x600 in GameEx, and when Mame fires up, the monitor and the settings in Mame for stretching the image, compensate for the different resolutions.

I know this is not the exact answer to your question, but I thought since we have the same hardware you would be interested.

Hi Jeff,

But in that case you're not able to take advantage of the arcade refresh rates correct?

What graphics card did you end up going with? All in all what did you think of the WG

monitor (I was just getting the shipping quote now so haven't finalled order)

GameEx as your cabinet front end, working out for you? I haven't seen better yet but

so far I've only been testing things on my PC without the full arcade controls.

Thanks

Erk

As far as the frequencies go, the D9200's range is 15.75 to 31.5 Khz, and I have noticed that it switches around automatically. I read extensively before buying the monitor and thought that the refresh rates were very important, but I do not see that it makes any difference. I would like to know if it 'does', just for my knowlegde, but I am very happy and don't experience any flickering, tearing, strech problems......

The monitor is fabulous, the color and brightness are amazing. I am so glad I did not use a TV in my design. It has VGA input, right from the computer, and an adjustment pad in the back, similiar to a TV for color, brightness, screen size, etc. I didn't have to do a thing to it.

GameEx is working fine. I am using the SlikStik Classic, which comes with a trackball and 3 adjacent buttons which act as a mouse. I have no problems with GameEx and I find it far more attractive and easy to set up compared to MameWah and some of the others that I worked with.

My computer is a Shuttle SK43G, (search on www.shuttle.com). I am using the onboard graphics, you really don't need anything special with the D9200. Try it and see and if you find a need for the ArcadeVGA later, then get it (and email me), but I seriously doubt it. I think the ArcadeVGA is designe for a true arcade monitor. The D9200 is a hybrid arcade/VGA monitor, it is much more flexible.

Thanks again Jeff,

I'll be sure to post my findings when the whole thing goes together. Sounds like

you have a great system. Be great to see the cabinet sometime if you've got some

pics.
