Hi People, many thanks for everyones help in setting up winuae through gameex. We've learned a lot.

Ok, me and my lad have built an arcade cabinet, and following instructions, have managed to hack a keyboard, and wire this to two joysticks and buttons on our arcade cabinet. It works great! You can map your keys in mame, and so everything works fine.

I read on a few posts that you CAN'T map your keys in winuae! Is this right? If so, does this mean its not possible to use our keyboard hack to link with a key configuration in winuae!? I'm confused - and I can't get much out of the winuae menu, as I don't really understand what its asking me :0(

I have heard I can get WHDload which does it - but its taken us weeks to get this far, and I'd rather not go into something else....Unless we have to!

Any help we'd be grateful for!

Cheers

You may not be able to map keys in a given program, but with enough desire, ANYTHING is possible. In this case, you have a hard coded keyboard mapping which is a bit inconvenient to rewire for each emulator. I would suggest looking into using AI or AHK to remap the keys for each non-mappable emulator. I don't know AI, but for AHK, you simply use the following:

a::z
s::x
d::c

which will remap a, s, and d to z, x, and c. You get the idea anyway...

I would suggest adding logic that checks for the specific program you are running too, then you can have a single compiled script running in the background and not have to worry about launching a specific one and killing it afterwards.

Thankyou!

I am using Headcaze's winuaeloader to play games, but have a separate folder of demos and games in .adf format, which I want to run through winuae, and not via the loader.

So really I'd like to know where I can download the programmes you mentioned from?

I'd also like some advice on how to start up the programme with winuae, and close it down with winuae!

Cheers!
