Which Mame should I use with Gameex

I'm currently using Mame32 acting behind Gameex. I am not totally happy with the display. I am using a 27" TV on Svideo...and while it is good enough, I am wondering if I change my Mame version then maybe it would help the output?

If you want to improve the acrade authenticity you can get an arcade vga card and an arcade monitor... I also use an TV qnd Svideo out.. I run my TV at 1024 768. It works well..

Just a note: Standard definition TV's run at ~640x480 resolution (540i). High Def TV's can run at higher resolutions and/or refresh faster (540p, 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p). Unless you have a high def TV, setting your video card to a higher resolution won't actually improve your image on the screen, it will only adjust the scale of items on the screen (scaling basically).

There are a lot of write-ups about TV versus Arcade Monitor versus PC Monitor already written. Not that we can't discuss it here, but you might find the information quicker at BYOAC since it's already there.

And no I dont think changing your mame version will have anything to do with the output quality. Like the other guys said. Its all about the monitor and video card.

I thought AdvanceMame was specialized for TV's in some way? Not arguing, I really am curious....

AdvanceMame I dont believe is updated regulary and I m prettty sure all it offers is extra video modes. The same results could probably be accomplished with soft15hz program and possably powerstrip (I think) Tho Ive never messed with it.

A few things you can try

- Check out mame.ini (if one doesn't exist run mame.exe -cc) and try setting the switchres option to 1.

- Check out Mame Resolution Tool and AvRes for generating config files for Mame games to match authentic games. You can find the utils here
