If you're starting with a defined set like EmuMovies, you can easily hash the files and make a DAT. Or I could.

I could do it if I had the EmuMovies set for the emulators... Or if I knew the naming conventions used for them I could write a renaming script also. Circo may be able to help me on that? Or perhaps someone can confirm the naming convention used (I assume it's in GoodName format but not sure)?

Circo uses No-Intro naming conventions and GoodName for those systems that No-Intro doesn't support. Shows the naming conventions for his collections on the info buttons of the system.

First of all, thank you for your massive effort! There's nothing like a clean list of games. I just want to ask humbly if we can we expect further updates of these great DATs? Can the four current ones be considered "final"? Are you planning similar DATs for other systems as well?

As I've recently donated to Circo's emomovies, I'd be very interested in DATs for those as well, so the movie-filenames would match those of yours exactly. As I'm no expert in these things I can't estimate how much work that would be...

I have been working on a DAT for No-Intro movie previews, and I have also been looking to expand these DATs into other consoles. I usually have a lot of projects going on at once, so I can't give you an approximate date on release. Although I consider the SNES and NES DAT to be about 95% complete, I may need to add things that I previously missed. The last step will be adding GameEx DB files for each game to accompany the DAT files and their naming styles. First I need to finish the half-completed AVI 'M' logos I'm working on though, so the rest of this project should be next in line.

In case anyone has use for this info, apparently someone has put together a DAT file for Circo's MAME EmuMovies. You will have to locate them in the forums where the tracker is located. Due to forum rules, I cannot expand beyond that vague guidance...

wouldn't that strip out roms where you don't have video for?

i mean what is the dat good for? i thought with the new beta release of 0.125 from circo all the naming will match your roms anyway...

It should and I don't know why it wouldn't. I d/led the file but haven't taken a look at the contents. I was assuming it was basically just a map file to link the real name of the game to the filename. I don't see an advantage for most people here though. Basically, I was just throwing mention to the dat file here since someone up the thread asked about dat files for videos...
