Would like to see two more items in the second page whne you select a game.

1) a back box picture - Back of box always has a brief explanation of the game

2) Text box showing cheat codes and what they do

If I understand what you are asking for, it can be done.

E.G. you are looking at mame > all games, and Choose Tempest from the list.

Now you are looking at Tempest, and it has options to view Marquee,Cabinet, etc. (if not then you have to enable "display game information" in Gameex)

In my case I don't have any PCB pictures. So I sacrificed that option.

Set the PCB path in Gameex to the location of the "back of box" path

Set your language to "custom"

Change the text for PCB from "PCB" to "Back of Box"

That's it! If your not sure where to change all of the options, use the "search" option in set up wizard. You may have to use Advanced Configuration for some of them.

You can do the same for the cheats, but I've never seen them offered as a .png anywhere, maybe you could do the set, and post them here ;)

I'm at work now, so when I get home I'll try it.

If I understand you correctly, you can add as may other snaps as you like

I'm probably not the best person for this, but if you bear with me I will try to help. If someone else knows of an easier way, please jump in. ;)

All I'm basically telling you is that you can change the items that are displayed when looking at the page that has the options of marquee, cabinet, etc. In doing what I said you are not really "adding snaps". If you were to put Marquee pictures in whatever folder you have setup in your mame paths in Gameex for Cabinets, when you highlight Cabinets in the Gameex window, it would show a Marquee. Gameex doesn't care what's in the folder, it just displays the information according to the paths you hve setup.

The part about changing the language, and display text is just so that it makes sense to the user.

I find this hard to explain, but go home and try it. You could start by changing your path to your marquees to wherever your "back of box.png"s are located, then go to the marquee option in Gammex and you will see your box art instead of the marquee.

Oh yeah, Each back of box. png must have the same name as the .zip file for the appropriate game.

E.g. tempest.png

= tempest.zip

I don't think I've explained this very well..... :(

Looked at it and yes can change marquee to box back, but it changes every emulator. Arcade emulators have no box backs but consoles have no marquees. You can change one without affecting the others.

I was just using that as an example. Is there an art path that you don't use? As I said before I change my PCB, Because I don't have any PCB pictures (and they are not something I want). If you don't want to lose any of your current paths, then I don't believe it can be done, but somebody else may know a way....

Edit: Give me an hour, I'm going to check out something

That was one long hour....

In the Setup wizard in "emulator setup" there are 5 options for different art paths for each emulator, 4 at the bottom of the first page, and 1 more if you click on next.

To Access the different emulators you have, select them at the top of the page in the box "select emulator"

It looks like Mame has 11 paths in "Basic Mame Settings"

You can put whatever you like in each of the folders, and change the display name in Gameex as described above, but beyond that I believe it would take a Feature Request to add more art paths if that is not enough.

I hope this helps.

Already seen that and yes 5 is not enought. Would like to have the 11 like in Mame. But thanks for all your help.

Any idea how to answer my other post about map files

There is a pinned topic for feature requests, place a post there if you want more than 5.
