If Nologic can steer me in the right direction for this I would appreciate it. In the new Game Ex v 9.11 I noticed some setup for zinc other than in the main setup. I tried to get this going and even found the old zinc loader and put it in the zinc folder. But just as my luck would have it after you try to launch a game it tries and then you hear game over and back to the initial screen. I'm willing to bet that there is something I need to add to the game ex ini file. Just l;ike I had to to get pinball going correctly. Thanx in advance

9.11...seems Tom didn't wait for me...blah. :)

You hear "Game Over"? I've never heard that...old zinc loader...as in my old one? or someone elses?

Now are you wanting to run Zinc standalone or grouped with Mame?

Your using a keyboard encoder correct?

Yes the speech plugin tells you game over. What I am trying to do is standalone, it puts zinc on the start page with emulated games. And yes I am using a keyboard encoder. :)

Okay...do you want the chds to work...and if so...what encoder are you using.

CHD's are not important. I have an I-Pac

Okay give me about an hour to fiddle around...mostly because dinner is about ready. ;)

I'll have an I-Pac centric Zinc build ready.

Hehe then you'll be my test subject. ;)

Thanx! but I'm sure it is something not in the game ex ini. But I would be happy to test anything. It's a shame not to have Zinc running in game ex. My next goal is neoraine. I'ma try the built in files.

Well quick question...did you have a map file?

49|Soul Edge

50|Soul Edge

51|Soul Edge

...

I dunno but I have it running outside of gameex fine using DaFreak's GUI

Well the map file would be used so that Zinc gets the right info to launch the games...the rom name...or the game name for that matter are worthless to Zinc...as it wants is the numeric value that represents that game...thats why you see 49 prior to the pipe symbol as thats what Zinc needs to launch Soul Edge.

When dealing with Zinc from the commandline that is.

I'm sure you have it running. I think it is something simple like things needing to be added to the game ex ini. If you or somebody that has it running can post the game ex ini file I could edit mine and get it going. I had a similar problem with visual pinball until Brian (I Believe) posted his pinbal configs, I edited the game ex ini and it has been working ever since. :)

You'll have to create your own IPC files in the Controls folder...as for one I don't know what they look like other than they are suppose to be ASCII files. :)

You'll need to make whatever adjustments in the Config folder, mostly pathing & rendering settings.

You'll need to make sure that WinIPAC.exe gets registered in the registry....mainly nearly everything is the same as the xpadder version just dealing with I-Pac's...so refer to that PDF loosely as you set this up.

Since its standalone your looking for you'll need to import the "[Arcade] ZiNc.ini" out of the Support folder making adjustments far as pathing...make sure the pathing is correct for the map file...or things won't work at all.

I'll try to put together a clean set of instructions tomorrow...and if you can get me a set of IPC files to go along with this package I'd be most grateful. :)

Well right now I'm not running Zinc standalone...but the import ini in the support folder should give you a good idea.

I don't care, however you are doing it that's how I want to do it :) is the support folder you are referring to in the game ex folder? I'm at work for another 5 hrs and don't have it installed here.

The support folder is located inside the archive I've attached to this thread. :)

Ok my good goofy ass missed a post in the thread. :) I just downloaded the rar and am gonna study what's inside at work. I should be able to use existing configs from winterblast right? cause I do have it running fine outside of game ex

Posted

Well actually WinterBlast is used in the gamepad version...which I could modify...but you would lose chd's...I know you don't care. ;)

Discard the archive above...as its geared towards making custom IPC files to move key bindings around as needed.

I'll get you a No CHD, WinterBlast setup.

Okay your officially spoiled ;)

Okay follow exactly along in the PDF I did for Zinc minus the Xpadder stuff.

You should be able to copy the contents of your prior winterblast configs into the new configs replacing whats there in the Controls folder.

Any attempt to load a chd game...will fail as the loader will flip you the bird then close. ;)

If you run into any problems let me know and I"ll try to solve them.

Well it isn't exiting now all I am getting is a black screen this is from the run last game bat

@ECHO OFF

D:

CD "D:\Zinc_v1.1"

ZiNc_Loader.exe 39 --roms-directory="D:\Mame\roms"

Is this what it is supposed to do?

Posted

hmm you should really only have:

@ECHO OFF

D:
CD "D:\Zinc_v1.1"
ZiNc_Loader.exe 39

do you have extra settings you are using in Advanced Configuration?

It should look roughly like whats in the pic below...out side of a changes in pathing to match your system.
