i was told the Both the February and May killergorilla packs have been added.

but none of the new games show up in whdloder

i have set path to Amiga GameBase Amiga.mdb from GameBase Amiga v1.6

and downloaded and copied February May packs and installed then in the folder with other whload games that work fine

and in tools menu i have clicked generate game lists

have i missed a step ?

do i need overwrite the GameBase Amiga.mdb in winuaeloader ?

chriss: They updated the database but did not change the version of the database. So it will still say 2.5 even if it's 2.6.

wobbly: You probably need to create new map files for GameEx

it terns out that i copied February May packs to the adf folder by misstate my bad :)

all working now

what's the name of mdb file for WinUAE Loader in 1.6

Do you mean the mdb for GameEx? Look in the Data\GameEx folder it has all the files needed in there. The mdb is now following the new GameEx database format, so it is called "[PC] Commodore Amiga.mdb" (located in WinUAELoader/Data/GameEx/DATA/EMULATORS).

You will notice the files in Data\GameEx are located in the same folders GameEx uses.

EDIT: Just realised I didn't update the ini files properly

DATABASE=AMIGA

should be

DATABASE=[PC] Commodore Amiga

They are in the database in order of GameBase->WHDLoad->SPS and identified by the brackets next to the name.

Eg. "Last Ninja 3 (WHDLoad)"

had a look at GameBase Amiga.mdb from GameBase 1.6 and it Has WHDLoad\Speedball_v2.0_0086.zip ex_id 7473

looking at [PC] Commodore Amiga.mdb for WinUAELoader does not have any whd Speedball 2 at all

i can see WHATS GOING on in GameBase Amiga.mdb FOR SLAVE flies AND SO ON

but i cant SEEN TO FIND THE SLAVE INFO in [PC] Commodore Amiga.mdb for WinUAELoader table is the slave info

Edit

i found speed ball in [PC] Commodore Amiga.mdb id 4494 Speedball_v2.0_0086 name =Speedball (WHDLoad) is this Speedball 1 or 2

if 2 the name should = Speedball 2 (WHDLoad)

edit just tested Speedball_v2.0_0086 and it Speedball ( not Speedball 2)

[PC] Commodore Amiga.mdb is a database for GameEx it does not contain the slave info. That is contained in Data\GameBase.xml, Data\WHDLoad.xml and Data\SPS.xml.

And as you've discovered the version number is not releated to the game series number.

If you want to play Speedball 2 or Xenon 2 just play the adf versions. I know the WHDLoad games are better, but they take alot of time and hacking to get them into that format. That is why there is a whole team of people creating WHDLoad games. Some games are more difficult than others depending on their protection schemes, loading systems, memory usage etc. so some games may never appear in the WHDLoad format.

For more information check out the WHDLoad website. They have a search there where you can search for titles, but just because there is a WHDLoad game doesn't mean it is supported in GameBase Amiga. They still have to get the game running in WinUAE, then KillaGorilla has to add it to his packs, then Belgarath has to add it to the database.

thanks for pointing that out hk

i found this on the whdload page:

# Speedball 2 (Renegade), 98% complete (packaging to do) 2.1.2008 Codetapper

so there is hope...

Thoughts and ideas on WinUAELoader (WUL)....

If im right in thinking that WUL use Gamebase Amiga to varify wheather a game file is a valid (i guess by file name and crc?) WHDLoad/SPS/Gamebase game and if the file name doesnt match Gamebase it ignores it?

That must mean the WUL knows what version (WHDLOAD/SPS etc) of the game is because the information is in Gamebase.

I also gather that with the current version of WUL you have to specify which mode WUL has to run a select game in and means that for each version of games (WHDload/SPS etc) you have to have a seperate menu in GameEX?

But... If the game version information is already in Gamebase, surely you can use is to automatically run WUL in the right mode? Therefore allowing all of your amiga games to be listed in one menu.

Which brings me to another thought.

Some games are use low resolution for which 640x480 would be ideal and some AGA games would be better in 800x600. It would be nice if WUL was again using Gamebase Amiga information to beable to select the right mode for each game.

On a side note, may be of interested...

Is there away of editing the user-startup generated by WHDRun? I have edited the startup-sequence to display a boot picture but because of the out from the user-startup it disappears to quick.

I had thought about using a picture view that allowed colour scrolling to create a fake busy bar... Its better than having a blank screen :D

My changed startup-sequence if anyones interested.

--startup-sequence--

C:SETPATCH quiet;

C:picboot d C:AmigaClouds.iff;

C:Assign > NIL: ENV: RAM:;

C:Assign > NIL: T: RAM:;

FailAt 21;

IF EXISTS S:User-Startup;

Execute S:User-Startup;

EndIF;

uae-configuration SPC_QUIT 1;

--end--

Does anyone knows how Aquanaut(F1-Licenseware) run? I get an error when is running in WHDLoad-> whdrun shows a message (illegal filename format in archive level1. , level2. , etc).

I rename the files to level1, level2,(without point) and its run and displays the presentation, but then I get an error in workbench because not find level1., level2.,(with point).. files.

How can i fix this load error? :huh:

Thanks.

I think there might be some filename issues with some releases. Just make sure you get the KillerGorilla set from his site rather than from somewhere like pd. TorrentZip may be the one causing the problem but I'm not entirely sure.

Ok, i´ll try another release but i used the KillerGorilla set and had that problem (Whdrun crash for the archives level1., level2., etc., inside the zip game) The problem is the name of the file that contains (.)

thank you so much for this now all my Amiga games, demos will live on forever in gameex

No problem but I'd appreciate you help wobbly if you don't mind. I have changed WinUAE Loader so that it doesn't make a copy of the .uae configs before writing to them. The reason it was like this originally was so that it always started with the same settings and then wrote the ones as set in WinUAE Loader. But if you wanted to press F12 to add a graphics filter etc it wouldn't perminately save those settings but now it does. So I just need feedback if this new method causes any problems.

Also I'm thinking of ditching my key remap system (which currently uses a global key hook) and instead setting WinUAE to use a keyboard and allow you to set the keys to use for Mouse/Joy/Keyboard and writing them to the .uae config. The problem is if you use the keyboard and remap a key in WinUAE Eg. Spacebar to be Joystick 1 Button 1 does that mean the spacebar key is no longer available for use as a normal spacebar press? This is why I've been reluctant to add this feature because I don't want the keys you use for your joysticks to intefere with some games that need the keyboard. If you could help me with this it would be much appreciated.

Also if I do implement this I will need someone to help me test. Let me know if you can help.

I'd be happy to help out with some testing as well...

I just downloaded the 1.60 WinUAE the other day... So it will give me an excuse to play around with that too ;)

Great program headkaze, thankyou. I only have one small problem that I've been trying to fix myself for the past few days, but I lost. I have done clean installs of everything but the operating system (XP64) in an attempt to get it to work. Maybe you can help?

Everything works great, it loads all the proper settings automatically, except for one thing: in gamebase mode it doesn't insert the floppies to load. If I run from gamebase it loads up winuae with the proper disks in their slots, but in winuaeloader I have to manually select the disks in WinUAE.

The annoying thing is that when I first tried WinUAELoader, gamebase mode worked fine. But something happened along the way. Any ideas about what I should do? Want to see any configuration files?

Thanks for reading this.
