HK - Man I thought I'd lost it again!

I went back to the top of this thread, and the link that you had worked! I came back here to edit my post to say that I must have screwed up, and that your links were correct, when I saw your post, and realized that you had fixed the links already!

I'm beginning to think that I have never made a mistake, and that you guys just keep changing stuff to make me look bad!

I need a push...

I believe I have followed HK's instructions. I have looked on the web. I've wasted 5 or 6 hours trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I have the WHDload games, and I can't get them to run in WinAUE loader using the "Test Game" feature.

The winAUE log has this error:

load config '.\Configurations\default.uae':0

CFGFILE: line was incomplete with only

CFGFILE: line was incomplete with only ª

LCD: Logitech LCD system not detected

CFGFILE: line was incomplete with only

CFGFILE: line was incomplete with only ª

CFGFILE: line was incomplete with only

CFGFILE: line was incomplete with only ª

Entering GUI idle loop

load config '.\Configurations\Host\Fullscreen (800x600).uae':2

obsolete config entry 'sound_adjust'

Obviously, I don't have the config setup correctly, or I'm not savong it as I should, or something silly... Can someone get me headed on the right track? Or upload a config file I should use? or something?

I'm using WinAUE 1.4.6

WinAUE Loader 1.51

Thanks.

as far a s i understand winuae loader it doesn't use the config files from winuae but has a custom file called WHDLOAD.uae in the folder Data.

your whd roms need to be named like this: 4DSportsDriving_v1.0_1461

they should have this format if you got them from whdownload.com

another important thing is to copy and rename your kickstart roms:

Copy them to WinUAELoader\WHD\Devs\Kickstarts\ and rename them as follows

kick34005.A500 <-- Actual ROM (Kickstart v1.3 rev 34.5 (1987)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000-CDTV).rom)

kick34005.A500.PAT

kick34005.A500.RTB

kick40068.A1200 <-- Actual ROM (Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A1200).rom)

kick40068.A1200.PAT

kick40068.A1200.RTB

kick40068.A4000 <-- Actual ROM (Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A4000).rom)

kick40068.A4000.PAT

kick40068.A4000.RTB

Tempest: When you slelect "Run Game" in WinUAE Loader does a list of games come up? When you select a game from the list then press the Run button what happens?

Maybe if you go into more detail about what you've tried I could help out a bit more.

I downloaded the games whdload 0-9, and "a" from the link that I provided the other day. A list of games does show up (137 out of 2177), but when I "run game" I get this screen:

In your instructions, it says not to worry about the path for the Gamebase amiga Database file...I didn't install Gamebase at alll. is that ok?

I was assuming from the error above that I was doing something wrong with the config for WinAUE, it mentions a logitech LCD, which I don't have, but I didn't see anyplace to change this setting...

No you don't need to install GameBase or set the database file. Okay I think I know what it might be, have you followed these intructions?

- You need to place the Kickstart ROMs into WinUAELoader\WHD\Devs\Kickstarts (these are not included)

I don't think there is anything wrong with how you've setup WinUAE Loader because judging by your screenshot WinUAE has started. There seems to be some problem with WHDLoad. Did you buy a key for that? I notice the file WHDLoad.key. I don't include a key with my loader so I assume you bought one. It looks like it's in the wrong place for a start.

Perhaps make a backup of your WinUAELoader.ini file, delete the folder and start again. Try it without a key first, as I have a feeling it's related to that.

One final point is using a WHDLoad key downloaded from the web may be blacklisted by WHDLoad and prevent it from running.

That Key came with the Kickstarts...I should have deleted it, I didn't really think about it, I just threw everything in the folder, and kept on trucking....

I haven't registered yet, because I was waiting to get it running before I worried about the nag.

I didn't install WHDLoad, because I see you had it in your package (I believe). I will try what you said, and let you know how it turns out.

OK.

I went ahead, and installed Gamebase Amiga, and Gamebase, and I have "Galaga '92" running. The game I was previously trying to run "1000 (something or the other)" still doesn't run, so I assume it won't run with an unregistered WHDLoad.

To get games to show up in Gameex, I had to not use the map file.

I'm not sure if I needed to download Gamebase Amiga or not....anyone testing this should use Galaga '92, or another game known to run in an unregistered version of WHDLoad.

Sorry for the trouble HK... Thanks for your help!

I'm off to register.... :)

You definately don't need Gamebase Amiga installed to use it. Perhaps you should have tried a few other games besides 1000 Miglia?

From the WHDLoad site..

The current version of WHDLoad is uncrippled. That means that there are no functional limitations in the unregistered state. Beside that some authors have made some of their Slaves to work with the registered version of WHDLoad only. To remind you to register, WHDLoad shows a requester each time you start. After you have registered, you will receive a personalized keyfile which hides the requester.

Heh I didn't know about the crippled games until I read that on the WHDLoad website, so your guess was as good as mine at the time. I don't remember ever running a game that came up with that "object not found" error message though, so maybe you just had bad luck by running a game that was crippled.

Let me know if the game is working again after you get your WHDLoad key.

cheers, m8

i just had a strange problem with winuaeloader... i thought that all the data of winuae is stored locally, i set up a new account and didn't change anything in the winuae folder

but now when trying to start a whd game it says rom missing. i thought winuaeloader will use the rom files from the devs dir..?

so i got it working again after pointing in winuae directly to the rom files, but now also my screen settings for resolution did change... did winuae itself store data at another location outside the predestined folder?

WinUAE Loader uses the folders as set under "Game Folders" in the Paths tab.

The resolution will change with this version because I had to change the way resolution worked and so they have to be set again.

WinUAE Loader saves it's settings to a file called Data\WinUAELoader.ini

it took me an hour but now its running beautiful again...

i had sound issues in fullscreen, in window mode everything worked fine.... unchecking all the options like center horiz/vert, vsync and everything else made it work again. even 2xsai is working now by enabling the auto resolution in the uae files for winuaeloader

couldn't be happier :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey all,

I just noticed that Gamebase Amiga v1.6 has been released...

Also WinUAE v1.50 was released last week... The guys at GB Amiga were waiting on this before they released V1.6.

I have not had a chance to test anything yet and will not until Wednesday (Bloody work <_< ).

Will have to see if anything has changed that will affect HK's loader... Hopefully not.
