New to HTPC stuff.

Ok a copy of MCE is on its way. I was told to use this GameEX for lunching my PC games and emulater. Whats the best emulater for each console to use? When it gets to PSX each game has its own plugin set up. Can gameEX lunch each config for each game by its self? I also want to run PC games with this. That should be just as easy to set up right? Just shortcut it to the EXE? Also how does GameEX menu snyc to MCE menus? I have GameEX on my my plan jane windows comp, and i see the game menus, But how doe sit link with the rest of MCE? Does that question even make sence? heheh anyways anyhelp would be great TY for your time.

Don't know about the MCE stuff, never used it, but as far as good emulators check the User Submitted Configs stick thread up top. It will just show you emulators that people have working with GameEX.

As for me, I use...

- MAME

- FCE ultra for NES

- zSNES for SNES

- GENS for genesis

- Virtual Boy Advance for GB, GBC, and GBA

- Project64 for N64

- Stella for Atari 2600

- Mecaw for Sega Master System and Game Gear

Ditto the above, except I use z26 for my 2600 emulator (wasn't able to get Stella to totally fill my screen for some reason).

I have MAME, AMIGA, C64, ZX Spectrum, N64, Dreamcast, PSX, Sega

All work via GameEx and all run with rom lists but a few need tweaking and the such!! Great menu system, hats off to Tom for a job well done!!!

how do you have your dreamcast games set up, if you don't mind me asking? Dreamcast games and Nebula are the last thorns in my side!

you can use ePSXeCutor.exe to setup ur psx games it will load each game with wich ever config u choose

for dreamcast u can use a program called chankast_launch.exe you should be able to find that program somewhere on these fourms

Yeah, for some reason I can't seem to get chankast or the launcher to pay any roms. The roms will boot up, and sometimes go directly to the music cd screen, but no matter if the rom is mounted with daemon tools manually or with or not oxbow's bat file, when I try to play a game it says "please insert game disc." I've tried it with roms of different extensions from different sources, like euroemu.net. Oops, I think i'm not allowed to post links. Well, at least it's not a proper link. anyway, any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I can post configs if you want.

3. Read the FAQ make sure you have the correct version of Daemon Tools etc.

4. Run chankast emulator after mounting a game, check the drive letter is setup to your mounted image drive letter. Does the game play ok when you try launching it manually, Is your image self bootable? Check that also, or convert it to self boot using ExoBoot. Still not working? Read the FAQ again.

5. Setup shortcuts to chankast_launch.exe for each game... Eg.

Eg. D:\Games\Chankast\chankast_launch.exe -screen 1280x1024 -fullscreen -cpu 108 -showstats -daemon "C:\Program Files\D-Tools\daemon.exe" 0 "D:\Games\Dreamcast\roms\Game.cdi"

the games have to be selfboot games and u have to have the right bios the european bios works the best when you start the emulator it should have a blue logo instead of a red

Chankast Launch can change the region of your flash file using the -region switch.. Run Chankast_Launch and you get a list of options.
