Firstly, must thank you for developing the best front end system for MAME. Always impressed with your rapid updates and new ideas.

I'm having a bit of an issue when I update my mame list that it misses many roms that I know I have(can run from cmd line) and that should be appearing in the list. I'm not doing any list filtering and I am allowing imperfect so I can not see why these games are not appearing in the list. I wouldn't expect you to troubleshoot with my issue but could you please explain how the list is generated? Is the list of ROMs supported by the current version of MAME simply matched up against the files seen in the ROM folder? (Ignoring all info added by catver and history etc)

Thanks and keep up the good work :D

I'm having the same problem. I noticed yesterday when I went to play Galaga, and it's not listed! I can open up mame32 directly and find and play it, but not in GameEx. I think I have all the settings correct, show clones, no filter etc. I downloaded the latest versions(.93) and dat files and refreshed the list with no success.

Any ideas?

I think MAME 0.93 may have broke some stuff, I'm looking into it now.

For Previous version you need to set allow imperfect for Galaga to show. I take it you tried that?

Thanks,

Tom

I believe i tried that, i was playing with all kinds of combinations of settings, but I will check it out and make sure.

Before I went with .93, I was using an older version, dont know which one but it was several months old. It had the same issue.

Does GameEx get the actual game list solely on the binaries output? or is there other processing and filtering going on?

I've just tested 0.93. I can't see any issues. I did get a few less games, but I probably need to update my roms.

Galaga seemed to be there.

By default the update is based on the XML list of roms from MAME and a Verify of your ROMS. In addition the Only Working, Allow Imperfect, No Clones, No adult, and Filter settings

It is probably just a MAME issue. They make tons of changes throughout the versions. A few versions back all Neo-Geo games would not verify until you got a new file. Although I think they did run in MAME32.

So the obvious thing to do would be turn off the Verify, or get the latest roms and audit them. You can also have the update check against file rom names on the hard disk, or list everything.

Basically unless you know what your doing and can obtain new roms easily, updating to a newer MAME version will probably mean you have less games to play.

Thanks for the quick feedback Tom. You've given me something to go off of for now.
