From what I've read, there appears to be a problem with playing certain multi-disc Playstation games through ePSXe. Some games allow you to save before the end of each disc, so you can just put the next disc in and load your save state and that's it. Those are apparently no problem. However, some games expect you to switch discs while the PSX is still on without saving. I know ePSXe now has a swap disc feature so you can just load the next disc file and continue from there. However, how can this be acheived through GameEX? I haven't seen any solution to this in the forums. I've heard about there being some rips where all the game discs are combined into one ISO, thus eliminating the need to swap discs. Does anyone know how to do this, or can anyone recommend any programs to do so? Any ideas?

My personal take (not having played with PSX emus), would be that getting/creating combined discs would be best. However, that is probably not an easy task to do and might be hard to find. As such, my next thought would be to find out if it's possible to just send a command line to the program and have it take care of switching. If so, you could map a key to that somehow (AHK/AI maybe) and be good to go.

Well, I've been doing some reading and it looks like making one big ISO with multiple discs is more trouble than it's worth. So, I was thinking about trying out the PC versions of games like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII. I've seen it mentioned here that PC games can work with GameEX. Does anyone know if it these particular games are compatible with gamepads or only with keyboard?

I believe any game PC game is gamepad compatible through programs like Joy2Key.

Joy2Key is an old unsupported program. Although it works, I HIGHLY recommend moving on to the newer and well maintained program XPadder. It's been out for a while and I LOVE IT! The author is still in adding new features on a regular basis. He has been releasing monthly builds (and some sub builds too) for over a year now, so I suggest checking it out.

And yes, any program that has keyboard support has support for gamepads via XPadder too.

Okay if someone can put together what systems need this support I'll finally take care of it...its been a long standing thorn in our sides and I've been fucking it off to a while now.

I know 3DO, PSX, DC....any others?

I just went ahead and got the PC version of Metal Gear Solid, which is probably the only PSX game with the multi-disc problem that I really care to have. I used X-Padder and it seems to be working great. I don't know of any other consoles that have this issue other than the ones you've mentioned.

This should work... Just skip the last step as that is for converting the said game to Eboot format for PSP.

Brian, apparently the Metal Gear Solid fix didn't work because he took it down. Several people tried to use it and it didn't work, so that's why it's not available now. So, any more suggestions? I thought using the PC version would work for me, but it's acting buggy on me, so I can't really use it.

Nologic, have you thought of anything?

Oh I've been lazy as of late...I will see about getting this coded up.

Haven't seen you around the board lately. Any success figuring out a way to get games like Metal Gear Solid that don't save at the end of each disc to work within GameEx?
