The topic description states the problem, really. I just set up Znes through the advanced configuration menus and while it will boot games, they show no picture, and when I escape, the resolution on my screen (TV-out to 640x480) always changes to a much higher resolution (1024x768 maybe, but I can never make it out).

It seems that "znes" is too short a search term, and I couldn't find much about setting up emulators on the main site here. I've been using GameEx as my frontend since I finished my cabinet last July, and installing the latest version last night prompted me to try to get my emulators working properly on it.

The Genesis emulator Fusion seems to be working fine, but it looks like parts of the screen are cut off on some games. Do I need to edit the config. files for the individual emulators to keep them from going into unusable resolutions?

Thanks, not trying to be an annoying newb.

My guess is that you dont have show desktop enabled.

Go into the confug and change it :)

In the future please post your LOG and your emuconfig... There are about a thousand reaons why a particular emu wonth work and armed with this info we can see if its system or config related.

This is how mine is configured.

Will check it out. It's making snaps of my Genesis games right now, but I'll post how it turns out and post the log and emuconfig when it's done.

Didn't post them before because I didn't see that in the rules until after I'd posted, and my MAME computer is off the network, so I have to use a flashdrive to transfer anything (which is a big reason I hadn't updated until last night).

EDIT - I know how to get the log file, but how do I find the emuconfig stuff? I've looked around in the GameEx folders, but couldn't find them.

Log from last night after turning on the option to show dashboard, and it did show the picture and the game played fine. It did still change the resolution of the computer upon exiting, though, and GameEx was running in the top-left quarter of the screen.

It's also showing every file in the directory, not just roms, but I guess the directory is expected have only roms in it?

Thanks for looking.

Okay well the gamelists are showing all files because you have no rom filter defined.

if the roms are in zip files then use *.zip if they are unzipped then use the file extension. ex.. *.smc;*.bin whatever

As far as your resolutions go tell gameex no to change resolution and configure each emu to use the same resolution as your desktop. According to your config your running gammex at 640x480. Your desktop is probably diffrent and the emus are probably diffrent also. That would explain the issues you are having. Pick a resolution and stick with it across all your programs. :)

Posted

Thing is, my desktop's resolution is 640x480, so that's why I find it so strange that every time I run Znes, it's changing the desktop's resolution. I'm wondering if it would help if I told GameEx to change the resolution, but would that then make the MAME games look weird? I'm asking that half-rhetorically, because I'm probably going to fiddle with it some more in a bit.

Go into zsnes video options and make sure its running at 640x480 also.

Yeah, unmapped the keys, hit escape and changed the resolution in Znes and that did the trick.

Not sure how to fix the resolution issue in Fusion, because, IIRC, that program itself doesn't allow you to change the resolution at which it displays. I'll look into some of the other emulators.

Thanks for the assistance!
