the brackets are these [...]

Do you have more than one 720 showing? Iff so you may just choose not to show clones.

nah i have the list down to no copies of any game but some games have the "(" followed by some text after them... is there a way to remove that?

Not sure about MAME but in other emulators you can remove the text in brackets... If I had GameEx with me here at work I could help you further. Unfortunately I don't, so you may want to look in Advanced MAME Settings and see if you can find this or a similar option.

If not, you'll have to edit the MAP file directly I think. Not sure about that...

I thought from his first post that vquzz had that option enabled, but now that I read it again, I'm not sure. I have that setting enabled and have no bracketed text.

You shouldn't have to, but that's the only setting I know of that controls bracketed text. Maybe someone else has another thought.

I have been messing with my settings and still can;t get rid of the bracketed text. I have ene gone into the gameex.ini file and still no luck..

# Dont Display game Version (Bracketed) info in the game list.

# For example if set to true '720 Degrees (rev 1)' Will appear in the

# list as '720 Degrees'. This is useful if running at a low resolution,

# as text won't get truncated. Use in conjuction with NoClones=True, to

# create a very clean looking list.

NoGameInfo=True

This is really bothering me.. Also i can't find a way in the actual rom file to change the name and maybe work around the problem

I can only think of 2 suggestions for you to try.

1) zip your GameEx.ini file and upload it so someone can take a look.

2) backup your GameEx.ini file and start over by copying the GameEx.default.ini file to GameEx.ini.

The settings people have mentioned here should have worked, but it appears something funny is going on. I don't know what else to suggest. Maybe someone else has a better thought, but that's what I've got.

There are 2 versions of MAME that GameEx allows you to use simultaneously.

1) It's assumed that you are using the official build for the basic MAME (although you can use other variants as long as they support all of the official command line inputs like -createlist). Some people opt to use another version for whatever reason (e.g., MAME32/MAMEGUI) which is ok as long as you configure it correctly.

2) The AdvanceMAME settings are specifically for AdvanceMAME. I don't know if any other build will work in it's place as it uses some rather unique settings (different video settings, etc.). You don't have to use this (I don't), but some people think it works better for certain reasons (e.g., arcade monitors, TV's, etc.).
