Is there a way to make videos for other games, like tiger woods 08, and have them show under the folder for launching external apps?

Yes, but I don't know how. It's been covered in the past, so perhaps a search of the forum might help. Wait a minute, you said external apps... I know it works for emulators, but I'm not positive about external apps.

Best way I know of is to run a desktop recorder like FFDShow or DivX and record the game by hand. I guess I never thought to try adding video snaps to my PC games as external apps since I use them in a section I made for PC Games under the Emulated Games submenu, but I don't see why it wouldn't work...

I use camtasia studios to record my desktop. It can encode to avi and you can specify what areas of the desktop to record including fullscreen.. You can dl a trial version...

Happy gaming

I have always used emulators to setup external apps. Ive never had any problems getting anything going and it has snap/video support.

Ok, i am going to try a couple of things. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Ok, i have no idea what i'm doing

What steps do i take to get the video in there.

I have the external apps setup. Just not sure under the external apps setup where i would put the path to the avi at.

That's what I was trying to say. I don't think there is anywhere to put the avi path in for external apps. Emulators are exactly the same as external apps except that they have a few more options (the ability to send the rom name and path to a command line, artwork and videos, etc.).

So would I just pick any old emulator and put the exe file in the path area? Then put the avi in the video path section. Sorry, i'm at work right now and don't have the gameex config in front of me to know what the boxes actually are.

The way most of us do it is to select an empty emulator setup. Make a folder that contains .lnk files (or shortcuts) to your PC games. Point GameEx at your shortcut folder and IMPORT the PC Games INI. You rename the videos to match the shortcuts you made, and point GameEx at that folder. If you wanna go all out, you can also put cover scans, disk scans, and whatever else you got. Just make sure you name everything appropriately!

GameEx will then launch the shortcuts you made as an 'emulator', and your game should run fine. However, if you need to use the CD to launch the game, it gets a little messier.

So the .ini file for select import emulator? There are hundreds of them under the game folder.

Does anyone get on the chat anymore, maybe they could help walk me through this. I am kinda slooow

Each one is for a different console. Look for the one called PC Games. :)

Sorry, I see the pc games emulator. I mean under the game i'm trying to include, there are tons of data .ini files. Which one do I pick, told you I was slow :P

I may be misunderstanding your question, but if I understand correctly:

You need to create a directory somewhere (e.g., c:\emu\PC_Games). Then, put a link to each PC game you want to have access to in that folder (e.g., c:\program files\tiger woods 2008\tw2k8.exe => c:\emu\PC_Games\tw2k8.lnk link file...right click and select create shortcut). You may want to add a map file to rename your shortcut to a meaningful name in GameEx, or you could just name "tw2k8.lnk" to "Tiger Woods Golf 2008.lnk". If you need help with map files, FIRST search the forum (there's lots of threads on it), and SECOND, if you still need help, ask -_-
