Hey all,

I think this is more of a mame setting, but curious if GameEx has a setting to bypass the game messages such as the video emulation not being 100 percent ect.

I have it set to skip the normal move joystick right left or type ok message, but certain games like Street Fighter 3 for example come up with a message saying the video emulation is not 100 %, others say that cocktail rotate is not supported or something like that. But whats happening is in my demo mode when those games load, they just get stuck there.

Not a huge thing, but can those messages be skipped?

I'm using Mame32 0.122 and don't seem to see it in the options. I have skip game info selected, but that just skips the standard message.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

It can :)

Use the Mame Compilier. It is written by Headkaze and will allow you to easliy compile mame so it bypasses all disclaimers. It also will add hiscore support the Hi Score and is credited to MKCHAMP.

Dl the program / Dl the source and click compile. You can even optimise it to fit your processor.

You can find it here on the forum

Happy gaming

BTW: you used to be able to do this through mame command line option but it has been removed from later builds..

I just tried to compile 122 and it broke on the hiscore.c file.the only patch I applied was hi_119.diff, so obviously I did something wrong. Is there a new version of the diff file that I should be using?

Cool! I did a google search but couldn't find the diff file depot.

So then I need to apply hiscore for 122, but that won't disable the disclaimer. I can't apply 119's hiscore to disable the disclaimer since that will screw things up. Is there a diff for just the disclaimer and crosshairs and such?

I used only the hi_122 diff file and it did the hi score, disclaimers and removed the crosshairs by default.

Hmmm, I'll try it again. Btw, did you install HK's setup.exe version of the compiler or the slim one?

I grabbed the 9mb one that had everything included already. Being it was my first compile attempt I wanted to try and keep things simple.

Ok, I tried again from scratch and it seems to have worked fine. Only question now is whether HK's CP Wizard diff will play nice or not. I'll give it a try and see!

I thought I had it figured out, but when I load a rom, it doesn't give me the option to show the cp. Do I have to create a directory for it to work or something? I didn't see anything that created the directory like the hiscore stuff does. On the other hand, I can't seem to get the high scores stuff to work either, so it's probably just me

In the MAME directory you need to have a folder named HI in order for the hiscore.dat will work

I have a 'hi' directory, but I don't know if I have hiscore.dat in the correct place. I'll have to check that.

hiscore.dat goes in the same folder as your Mame's exe.

To use the bezel patch for Mame do the following. To use this feature you must have applied the bezel_0121.diff (available for download on the CPWizard homepage) to a custom compiled version of Mame. It should also work with the latest version of Mame (already tested as working with Mame 0122).

1. Design your CP the way you like in CPWizard and save it to something unique (Eg. MyCab.xml)

2. Go to Edit > Options > Mame > Mame Layout > Press the [...] and select "MyCab.xml"

3. Select File > Export Batch

4. Set Output Type to Bezel

5. Set your Output Folder to Mame's artwork folder (Eg. C:\Emulators\Mame32\artwork)

6. Select GO! button

7. To test run a Mame game and press the pause key. It should toggle the CP on and off.

Perhaps I was unclear (which is not too surprising). What I meant was that in MAME, when I go to the video options menu, I don't see the new "Hide CP" or "Show CP" items. Do I have to have CPWizard running in order to see them? I'm looking at the screen shots on the CKWizard homepage and I see those two options pop up, so I figured that would be a nice way to display it (overlayed). Just curious...

Your not being unclear, I understand what your asking. Those options won't be there until you follow my instructions above. The actual bezel's that you create in your artwork folder are what add the extra two options "Hide CP" and "Show CP" to the video options menu. The patch is just to allow you to toggle them using the pause button. So until you Export Batch your whole set of bezels you won't see those options.
