Hi,

I currently use GameEx 3.70 and it works just fine. It wold be nice to keep up with every new version, but they come out so often, it's too much hassle for me. But a few seconds ago I discovered two files in my GameEx folder which are called: Upgradeconfig and Upgradeconfig.exe.config.

What do these files do and how does it work?

These are used with each new version when you install, so your settings are not lost. There run at the end of the install program, to upgrade your settings. They serve no purpose unless your installing GameEx.

 Thanks tom,

I never realized I can upgrade on top of an existing installation (am i stupid or what?). So, I just upgraded and it went well.... almost! The upgrade config utility did not copy emulator config 15 and sixteen 16! I was clever enough to make a copy of my old config file before the upgrade, so the problem was fixed within 30 seconds.

But why were my last two emulator configs not copied?

Dont know. Are you sure they were not copied? It works for me. Maybe they were just moved in the ini file?

It does backup your original config by the way, as GameEx.UpgradeBackup.ini.

Hi Tom,

I am sure they are not copied, or moved to somewhere else in the ini. But it's not a big deal, as you made sure a backup of the original ini is created. Nice!

Retro,

The next time you upgrade GameEx, check and see if you have the same problem. If it still fails to include those emulators, perhaps you can attach a copy of your GameEx.ini file, so Tom can try it with your file and perhaps figure out where the upgrade procedure is failing.
