8th November, 2007 - GameEx 8.95

Now includes Ben Baker's (AKA Headkaze) LCD/LED Plugin Version 2. This is probably the most complete plugin of its type in any of todays front ends. Its pretty new and cutting edge, so please report any problems on the forum. Also, please show your support for Ben, maybe donations, and even feedback and recognition goes a long way.

This replaces the version 1 plugin, so if you were using that you will need to reconfigure

New input setting, to enable/disable jumping in the lists by keying first letter of items. Useful for certain arcade controls, so it does not happen inadvertedly when pressing a button or control

New spanish translation by Manual A. Many thanks

Added Brazlilian Portuguese and Dutch to language selections in Setup Wizard

Tom does this have [App] macro included? and the corrected Advanced Config?

You may want to gab at LB11 and see if he's happy with releasing the DB's...I think the Windows & DOS ones are the only ones yet to be updated...so maybe leave those out...

Yes, included and fixed (although you need to put the double up of quotes in the configs).

To be honest, Im just waiting patiently to be told there ready and to be given the (finalized (or part finalized)) files.

When I get an "email" to that affect Ill get a version out there straight away.

Well, i talked to Stu, it is ultimately his project after all. We concluded that I will finish the Amiga, Zx Spectrum, and Atari ST at some point since they are probably the more popular old PC's and only have about 300-600 entries each to fill in. The windows and dos ones have thousands to fill in, but we agreed that most users don't have thousands of PC games on there cabs since its not like setting up one emu and having thousands of games immediately.

We also agreed that allgame probably has the most popular games entered in the databases already.

Then there is the problem of new games. Most of the emulators don't have new games being made for them, so the databases are complete. Windows will always have new games coming out that wont be in there. So I proposed we release these databases as is, and make a pinned thread where users can post any games they would like added. Once a month or weekly or whatever me or Stu or whoever can add them in and release a new database in that thread for download. I honestly don't expect it to be many.

We could also use that thread to correct any mistakes I hopefully didn't make :o If someone thinks something is wrong just post it up and we can get it changed.

So if you like tom, I will zip up all the work and send it over to you to add. :D

Yes, please do LB. GameEx itself is a work in progress anyway :) Just be sure to tell me exactly what should be included, or just send over the finished ones.

Thanks a lot for all your hard work guys.

It'll be good for these to finally see the light of day and everybody to get the use of them

what can i do, when my Game EX starts to speak? i activated (tried to) the LED plug in - and since then GE speaks.

but i dont want it to do so

Go into the LCD / LED Plugin configuration in the Plugin Manager..

- The female voice are actually samples. To turn them off go to Options 1 and take the tick off "Enable Samples".

- To turn of the speech go to Options 2 and take the tick off "Enable" under Speech.

thanks a lot!

i allways tried to deactivate the plug in by Tom in the manager (which was not activated!), and did not realize, that in the led plug in are speech options too ;)
