Hello,

I have a Question on a few things.

Mouse Emulation: Control games and applications that require a mouse with a gamepad or arcade controls. It's possible to pay $20 for other software that does this.

Does this work? So if i Have Golden Tee, my x-arcade will work with this in Mame? Cause it doesn't work now in mame as i don't have the trackball.

Real time key remapping for emulators and PC games, via an advanced configuration file. Along with key and mouse button blocking.

Can Someone ELaborate on this?

Firstly its not for MAME, these features are primarily for PC games.

There also not simple to setup in gameex (yet).

As youve only asked what they are I wont go into configuration.

Mouse is at says, but like I said its not for MAME.

The key remapping is used to map keys that cant be defined in PC games to keys setup on your arcade controls. For example a PC game requires F1 to start, but your p1 button on your control panel is mapped to the 1 key. So you map F1 to 1. For the blocking, say a pc games has an undefinable key that exits the game, and this is the same as button 1 on your arcade controls. You'd block the key so you dont accidently exit the game with your arcade controls.

Nice bold letters there... I dont think we would have understood without that. ;)

Q: Mouse Emulation: Control games and applications that require a mouse with a gamepad or arcade controls. It's possible to pay $20 for other software that does this

A: Xpadder will do this for free... Most apps you can find freeware... Its just a matter of how many apps do you want to configure to get the same functionalty that you can setup in one program.

BTW: there are joystick version of Golden Tee.

The issue with joystick or key to mouse mapping is it is not accurate for SPEED.. When you want to Hit the ball harder you roll the trackball faster... When you use keystrokes you cannot do that... It WILL work but not accuratly.

Q: Real time key remapping for emulators and PC games, via an advanced configuration file. Along with key and mouse button blocking.

A: Well lets say your setting up DAPHNE.. the Q key quits the game... One of your joystick buttons is mapped to Q and you already have 10 or so other emus setup working fine with the config... You can easily remap the Q key to another key or block it all together. (Very usefull) Or the emu might not even support joypads.. Then you can map joypad button to keypresses...

The bottom line. Do you fell gameex is worth the 25 of so dollars? If so donate and support Tom and the forum.

You will get a few bells and whistles also but that shouldnt be the deciding factor as gameex is 98% functional without it.

Besides I thought you were donating on Wed?!? Oh well

Happy Gaming

Yes donating is worth it. :)

However the over sized lettering is not really welcome...bold would be good enough.

Anyways I think both of those options are available without having to donate...I could be wrong tho.

Mouse Emulation...well frankly I haven't tried this aspect of GameEx...but you should be able to try this your self.

The quote about $20 is correct...until recently...Xpadder can do this and generally better and its free....BUT there are some KEY features to GameEx's controller mapping that have yet to be duplicated in Xpadder...so I generally use both to obtain the best end result.

There are a lot of nice features for those that donate...however generally those are not the reason most donate...ether its out of love for the software...or to get rid of the time delay imposed on running it without having registered it.

Originally I planned on donating...but the delay pushed me into doing so a LOT quicker than planned. I just figured my time was worth more than my money...so we parted ways. ;)

I would suggest you donate...save your valuable time, and support Tom who is always making updates to this software...there are a lot of cool things coming our way both from Tom and the community surrounding it.

Anyways I'm a piss poor sales rep...course thats probably why I'm not one. ;)

*Update*

Damn I'm getting slow. :)

My opinion is that if you want to register based only on those two features mentioned, its probably not worth it. I thought they would be great features too, but they are honestly lacking if you ask me. Sorry Tom :(

From Tom's post it sounds like they might get better soon though. :D

Overall though, I recommend everyone donate if they use the software! Even if most of it is free. Its not expensive for such a great piece of software and will only help Tom make it better!

I donated to the project a long time ago. GameEx was worth donating to even back when there were no registered features or nag screens.

Development has been strong and consistent and Tom has been ever helpful and dedicated to his community.

I readily admit to being on the stingy side when it comes to registering software, but Tom Speirs and GameEx are absolutely "cream of the crop" and worth every cent of your registration dollars.
