Hi!

i have installed windows xp home on an athlon 64 3500+.

the installation was with my TFT and a normal VGA card (TNT2) because its easier to do so.

Game Ex was also installed and was running, i have played Galaga, everything worked fine...

Now I have changed the TNT2 to a AVGA and installed the ATI Drivers for this card. the PC is connected to the Cab-Monitor via JPAC.

when i try to start Game Ex now i get an Error.

Something with DirectX9 and the VideoCard...

what can i do? DirectX is installed.

Have you installed the drivers from ultimarc's site or are you using the standard drivers from ati's site?

You need the drivers from ultimarc.com

I'm running the same setup at home (athlon 64 3500+ with arcade vga) without any trouble

The only other thing I'd suggest is reinstalling DirectX and/or GameEx... your old GameEx settings will still be retained if you reinstall so don't worry about having to waste your time setting everything up again

Failing that post your whole log so someone can see what else it might be

i think its the driver of my videocard...

i was in the "gerätemanager" (dont know its name in english ;) ) and there are in the option "Videocard" two devices.

the Radeon 9200 (secondary???) and a videocontroller... i have deactivated it because i want the radeon (=AVGA) to be used, but with the same result <_<

Are you using a theme with a higher resolution than ArcadeVGA supports?

no, i have "Default - ArcadeVGA lowres"

Is there an ON BOARD VIDEO? If so disable it in the PC BIOS.

It could be a conflict.

Id Also Insert the card in a diffrent Pci slot as this might force windows to re-do its plug and pray system.

now it works ;)

i had to choose the right drivers in the systemsettings by myself... windows choose the wrong drivers when i let it (automatical)

there have to be two devices
