i just set up my new pc in my cab. and i have a fresh xp install with the codec pack from www.ccp-project.net + nvidia purevideo dvd codec.

every time i put the cursor over a video in the multimedia library ... the sound starts playing .. and it seems to lock up. i can select the item and hit play and the gameex screen goes blank as if it wants to embed the video player...the top bar with the back button is there.. but gameex locks up.. the audio keeps going.

i tried it with k-lite codec pack..it did the same thing..then uninstalled...same thing..then cccp...

not sure what i should be looking at for a fix?

CCCP is ffdshow. :)

This has been largely hit or miss for some time.

Try this...

Uninstall all codec's then reboot...ideally uninstall using "Your Uninstaller! 2006" to help make sure everything gets flushed out.

Install CCCP.

Start up "FFDShow Video Decoder Configuration"

Under Codec's disable the following: (H.264, Xvid, DivX 4/5/6, MPEG1, MPEG2, all WMV's)

Reboot

Install Official Xvid build

Reboot

Install nVidia PureVideo

Reboot

Hopefully have fun...

*Note*

I think there is a H.264 setting in Xvid...so you may have to disable that during it's installation.

Really I think the whole thing comes down to the position of the moon and alignment of the other local planets...for things to work out right. ;)

I thought CCCP was sorta like those K-lite packs? I use ffdshow from here http://www.ffdshow.info/ Should I be using CCCP?

If FFDShow TryOuts is working fine for you...no...other wise yeah I'd suggest it.

CCCP has things a bit more rounded out for the end user...but TryOuts is more current...as CCCP only brings in snippets from TryOuts...tho as TryOuts has become more stable they seem to be increasing the amount they bring in.

Hehe if that wasn't a long winded "Maybe" ;)

I had the same problem.I found out that if you disable the audio for video snaps that GameEx will not lock up.I hope this helps. So why will GameEx work with audio disabled, but not inabled?

any solutions?

I second this, I also would like audio back with the video previews, this last worked in the early 7.-- releases of gameex (7.49 I think but I could be wrong), Is this a bug? I think so as back then if Iregressed one version of game ex the audio worked fine again with the video previews without any changes to the ffdshow installation. Pleeeease Tom any chance of taking a look at this? Thanks.

Regards,

Draconus.

CCCP and disabling audio with avisnaps fixed it for me. With audio enabled, it would lock up GamEx. This was with both HQ and SQ. Strange though, I mapped AVISNAP folder in the multimedia options and the videos play fine w/sound through GamEX multimedia section.
