Hello,

I have the latest mame32 .119 It detects all my other games except the cps3 games, like sf3, jojo, vampire savior. I turned off filters completely. These games work in regular standalone mame32 gui. Not sure why Game Ex wont pick it up... any tips??

Thx

Did you update your list in gameex after getting the newest version of mame?

I did refresh the list. Twice in fact. When you say add these roms to the do not filter list, do i type the location or the name of the file? and if so, if theres multiple files, do i use a "," to seperate them? Also is there an easier way to update the games list in GameEx? I had to reinstall it to do this....

You use the name of the zip file and seperate with a semi colon.

Also you SHOULD have an update list option at the bottom of your mame page.

OK. I got all the games to show now. However, I select them and load, and it loads up mame, and says loading complete, then it goes black, then back to GameEx.... any clues? i turned off the skip disclaimer function as it was entering keystrokes, it had no effect......other games work, just not the sf 3 series.....any ideas?

Do you have the CHD?

Does CPS3 need a special bios?

Your CHD's (not CD's) should be in folders named after the rom in your rom directory.

Are you using mame32 with gameex or regular mame? Gameex should not have much to do with playing the games.

If the mame you are using in gameex is able to play these games, then chances are you should not have to put them in the donot filter section. Gameex uses the mame program itself to determine what is playable and put it in your game list.

So check all your paths, make sure you are using the right version of mame. Maybe one day you were trying different stuff and left it on the wrong mame version?

After rereading your post, what do you mean you have the no cd files?

It seems there is some confusion about the CHD's...

First Id like to say that the CHD's for CPSIII are CD IMAGES... like isos of sorts.....

CHD used to stand for Compressed hard disk... Games like NFLBLITZ actually had harddisks and these were the dumps..

CHD now stands for Compressed Hunk of Data.... As now they are not only HD images....

For mame the CHD IS NEEDED.. It is used the same way the arcade uses it... ONLY ONCE... The data is read off the CD and the roms are programmed..

After that it is only used or verification purposes...

MAME will emulate the copy protecection though it will not create the ROM it will write to the NVRAM intstead.

The NO CD ROMS are dumps of the roms that have been flashed from the data on the CD...

emulators like CPS3 by Elsemi will just boot off these roms...(bypassing the security check)

Mame in its effort to be 100% accurate will act just as the actual arcade... It will take 15-30 minutes for the initial boot... You will need the CHD

Hey guys,

I got the same problem as already discussed on this thread...

I got all the sf3 files and it works fine when i start it with mame32

i can also see sf3 in gameex (only one version even with filters off...) but when i start it, the screen turns black and then i'm back to gameex.

somebody know why this happens? i don't really get what small zip files dalomarius is talking about..

thanks for any help

cheers,

chris

Im assuming that since you can run the game in MAME you have all the needed zips and chds.. So Have you tried running the RUNLASTGAME.bat after it fails in GameEX to see whats going on? Id also maybe go into the CFG folder in the mame directory and deleting config foir that rom.. Also revmove the NVRAM file (located in the NVRAM folder)
