The first thing I did was set my boot screen to a custom one using stardock's bootskin changer. I changed it to the Nintendo XP one but that's irrelevant. I then used instant sheller and accidentally selected the instant sheller to change the boot screen as well. I went to undo changes but now my boot screen isn't right even after the undo. The first half of the boot process shows the blue game Ex logo screen and the 2nd half shows the Nintendo XP boot screen(which is the one i want). Also the Nintendo boot screen is no longer animated. Anyone have an idea how to restore the boot screen to either a normal windows XP boot or to the Nintendo XP one that I want. Thanks much!

Try this link!

Unfortunately that doesn't work for XP

Can anyone tell me what files that instant sheller specifically modifies to change the boot screen? I downloaded resource hacker and looked at the ntoskrnl.exe and all seems to be well but I'm still getting the game ex boot screen at first then a non-animated xp boot screen directly after. This is driving me nuts >.<

Edit: Tried doing a full system repair but the boot screen remain unchanged >.<

Already tried using stardock to restore the original XP boot screen. What happens is the system will boot into the blue game ex boot screen for a few seconds, then switch over to a non-animated version of the standard XP boot screen. I can't seem to get rid of the game ex part and reanimate the XP one.

when you changed ntoskrnl.exe did you replace it in safemode also puting a copy of it in dllcache folder in the system32

as i would think windows file protection changes it back

or you could disable boot screen in "msconfig" boot.ini set it to noguiboot this will not show a boot screen on booting up

This is exactly what I did (editing the boot.ini). I didn't realize the boot.ini contained items related to the boot screen. All is fixed now, ty!
