Okay stumbled across this one while toying with Vectrex support under Mess.

Started off using GoodMerge romset...seemed fine far as games being listed in GameEx...then while trying to trouble shoot things got a hair up my ass and swapped out GoodMerge with No-Intro...here in lays the problems humble beginnings...as for some reason the No-Intro set didn't show up in GX...so I checked the file extensions...sure enough GM was vec & NI was bin...so I extracted the files changed over from bin to vec...still not seen...ran Mess via CLI and sure enough the games where fine...then I decided to be silly and 7zip the files...well 6 of them....fired up GX...while I'll be damned if they didn't show up then...odd thing is...half where bin and the other half where vec.

Anyways something that puzzled me...and hopefully something can be done about it...so it doesn't drive the more meek insane. :)

yup both on and off.

I don't suppose you have the ROM filter set to *.vec instead of *.bin? I doubt you would make a mistake like that though. Other than that, I wouldn't have a clue *shrugs*

went to vec to bin to zip to nothing.

The files had to be 7zipped...zip didn't work ether...course thats the format the No-Intro was in to begin with...actually TorrentZip...but..

Just was something odd...and mildly hair pulling. :)

You know GameEx may cache the list of ROMs and maybe has a checksum or something to detect when the list needs to be updated. Because you only renamed the extension maybe it was using the older cached list. I'm just guessing here though.

Nah it appeared to be checking for the roms...wait dialog and all that.

its only a one time annoyance so no biggy to me...just thought it was some thing to bring up. :)

Not sure, I entirely follow the post, but HK is right GameEx does cache. You can make it recache by delete deleting emu_X.map in the data folder. Theres also a db cache.
