In the registration page it mentions this feature of GameEx:

"Mouse Emulation: Control games and applications that require a mouse with a gamepad or arcade controls. It's possible to pay $20 for other software that does this."

What exactly does this mean? I had been imagining it would allow me to move the mouse pointer in Windows with my joysticks and therefore not need to use a mouse, but since I see no evidence of that I'm guessing it means something else?

Mouse emulation is exactly that.. Make your joypad act as a mouse.

Actually XPADDER AND JOYTOKEY are FREE software that will let you do this...

By donating you are supporting the author and the progam development.

Added ensentives are the use of ebook reader karaoke and other funn stuff.

Hope this helps clairfy things a bit

Thanks, ok, so I'm not crazy. But I have registered and I can't find any executable to run to provide this, no control panel applet, no setting in the GameEx software, etc. How do I use this feature? I see evidence of it anywhere.

Wow, thanks for showing me that, a screen capture was more than I was expecting!

So, I think I understand now, it's emulator specific, and therefore my initial thought that it would work to control the mouse in Windows wasn't correct; you can't use this to control the mouse in Windows itself, only within the emulators that GameEx launches with that setting enabled.

I didn't want to when GameEx was running. I was looking to be able to use the mouse as a track stick/pointer so I don't have to pull out the mouse every time I drop back to Windows and need to do something (launch another program, open up the control panel, click something in the system tray, etc.). I'd still pull out the mouse if I had to do much on the unit (the joystick wouldn't make a great track stick), but as it is now I have to keep the mouse out constantly since I occasionally need it to do something with the system.

I think there is even a way to do this in windows without needing to install anything. I know you can do this with the arrow keys/num pad, but I'm not positive about joysticks/game pads. Unfortunately, I haven't used this feature in a LONG time, so I can't remember how to get it going. :(
