mame minimize

Hi all. i have mame32 103 and about 3 months ago a problem has appear. Randomly when i launch a mame game, Game Ex launch it, but then suddenly the game disappears before i can see it. I see my deskstop and i heard the game but it is not there. The only thing i can do is to press alt+tab to change the prioritys.

i have update game ex 4 or 5 times, (now i am in the last one) and the problem still is there. Another problem is that if i activate the attract mode, if a game is launched and i press a key, retruns to game ex but doesn´t kill the game and

Sometimes when i go to shut down a error appears: Hideos error, i don´t remember exactly what does it says but may help to guide your answer.

you have a program running in the backround that is steeling focus.

Try turning off any desktop managers, Anti virus,Spyware.

I have found what is the problem. A dos programm call gamex -quick is opened and its the one that doesnt allow mame games to be opened in full screen. ¿what can be the solution?

Come again? What is the DOS program called? GameX? It doesn't allow Mame games to be opened in full screen? Can you stop it from booting up using MSCONFIG?

"GameEx -quick" is GameEx with the switch to skip some of the bootup stuff.

Well first of all excuse my english. I will try to explain. I think this happens when first i play for example 5 or 6 games via "play random game". When i try to play mame games sometimes i launch the game via gamex, and suddenly the screen get black or i see the deskstop (depending of muy config to show it or not). When this happens i heard the game but it is not there. If i press Alt+tab y see there are 3 processes: Gamex Icon, mame game, and the thir is a console dos icon that says Game ex- quick. If i cole game ex i see a window opened of that console that is the cause (i think) of this problem.

Pd: the only way to play the game is push alt+tab till mame is selected and then it opens

I can't imagine it would be a problem with MAME, but have you tried any other versions (for example newer or the command line version)?

Well this is the version i have a lot of time ago and it allways works fine, but may be a good idea to reinstall it or install mame32 104 for example. I will try thank you

Finaly i have reinstall mame. I have install a diferent version to prevent posibly bugs of the version before (mame32 103), but sadly i have still the same problem. Sometimes when i launch a mame game, it minimizes in the desktop. I have change to different themes in game ex and still happens.

Well, I was doing some funny stuff with my cab yesterday trying to set up my new GP-Wiz and I managed to fork things up. Whatever I did, it caused the problem you have brought up to happen. I killed the task with ctl-alt-del and restarted GameEx and it worked fine. I don't remember what I did, but it's not typical, I can verify that!

But i use a loader that only allow basic windows tasks to work. It kill explorer and alot of thing. IF i opne the task manager only 8-10 things are working

When mame minimize there is also one more: cmd.exe and of course mame32.exe

Finally i have solve the problem. At least at this moment doesn´t happened anymore. The solution was to click "yes" in the advanced mame config in "BYpass disclaimer/warning" and in mame cliking "skip game info"

When you run MAME32 with "skip game info" off, does it open a pop-up box? I was pretty sure that info was displayed on a black screen that says "type ok" or something.
