Uninstall all codec's and try using CCCP (for non-Win9x)

Defrag OS drive & drive holding video's

Make sure all desktop z-order applications are disabled

Make sure all virtual desktop applications are disabled

If this fails try disabling Anti-virus for a bit and test

If this fails turn off Disk indexing & auto defrag utilities

I had this exact problem with Circo's newest video snaps, so I went back to the old set I had. Now I don't have the freeze-after-3-seconds problem.

I also use ffdshow.

Quick question...not sure how it would effect anything...but were you using the large ones for previews...or the small ones. Just wondering if maybe the scaling of the video to a smaller size might have some effect.

I tried it with the low quality videos. And as Rusty here, the latest Circo Mame video set is the only one I've had problems with.

Now you made sure to uninstall all codec's & packs...Divx, Xvid, FFDShow,...?

Okay try this...start "Settings" shortcut, when the dialog comes up click "Next>"

Now check "Reset All Settings" and click "Apply" then click "Yes" on the confirmation dialog

Now click "Next>" now check "Re-Register Filters" and click "Apply" then click "Close"

Start "Settings" shortcut, Check every thing but whats in the "FFDShow General" section

Now click "Next>" and set your "File Association" values as you like

Now select every thing BUT "AVI & MPEG-PS" in the "Haali Media Spliter" then click "Apply"

Now try GameEx and see if every thing plays as it should.

I'am having the same issue with the new Sets I downloaded. The preview Avi's freeze every 3 seconds of play and that is with every video. I've tried different ffdshow but only the main one from GameEX will actually show the video with sound. Others I've tried freezes GameEX. Not sure if it's codecs or the Videos?

This problem is repeatable for me everytime I use ffdshow and tell it to use the xvid codec instead of libavcodec. Make sure it is set to use libav. If that doesnt work, simply install xvid, and set ffdshow to be disabled with xvid files.
